i have a gsr swap in my civic and a guy i work with put it in my car after i blew my b16. anyway it has never been right as far as idle. well i was at the local autozone tonight and the guy working wanted to hear my rpm's going up and down. i opened my hood and for the first time i hear a hissing noise. the guy that put my motor in put a vacuum line that comes from the bottom/back driver side of the intake manifold to the top of my adjustable fuel pressure regulator. and on the gsr intake manifold there's a butterfly thing on the same side and i took the line off my regulator and put it on that thing and the up and donw shit quit but my car idles around 2000 now. and i still hear a hissing noise like a vacuum leak. so any suggestion's. my car is converted to obd1 if that helps.

Find where the hissing noise is coming from. You can't be helped really until then.

And you *NEED* that vacuum line on your FPR or your fuel pressure will be WAY off.

when that line is on my fpr it idles up ond down.

if the tune is off enough it will cause a bad idle and surging because the o2 feedback is trying to correct a terribly lean condition.

the hissing is probably the air sucking in/through the intake and filter. reconnect the vacuum lines the way they were and follow this:

the bad idle/surge can also be because of a vacuum leak. to check for this pull your intake tube off the throttle body. take your hand and cover the throttle body completely. it will try and suck your palm in. if there is a vacuum leak your idle may drop, but it won't stall out. if you don't have a vacuum leak your idle will drop and the car will stall.

try that and listen to see if you still hear the hissing.

ok, i know the hissing is not coming from my air intake. its around that butterfly thing.

keep pulling off hoses and look for anything that's not connected is pretty much all i can tell you

ok i put my hand over the throttle body and shit i thought you was kidding about trying to suck my hand in lol. but my idle dropedbut did not stall. so i have a vacuum leak right.
