i wanna swap my head over to vtec what all do i need? head, subharness, and ecu??? and how hard will all this be ive done a stock motor swap in a 89 honda civic hb so how hard could it be?
also i was gonna order the sub harness from rywire.com http://rywire.com/store/9097-accord-...ac206c8c8c837c what is IAB and KNOCK?
iab and knock are sensors
dunno shit about hondas but i assume you got a f22 nonvtec? aren't the f22B's vtec..? heh maybe if you swap to the f22b head and change the computer and git'r'done it might do it
lol but maybe wait for a response from sum1 who knows
but honestly why you gonna spend all that $$ for vtec... Its not that big of a power gain... and if you like the sound just get a vafc and hook the vtec wire to an electronic cutout lolol
f22boosted = ftw
more of a gain than "vtec"
but a side effect is that you wont be able to do this

What are you trying to accomplish in all this, gaining VTEC? waste of money
if you want some power, please refer to this thread. this is how you do an LX 5th Gen Accord
COMPLETE! f22b(1&2) turbo kit for 94-97 accord
ok i dont want it turboed i want vtec b/c i like vtec why did u eat taco bell last night? cuz u wanted it lol not bein an asswhole i can get the whole thing for 250$ not really that big of a waste of money when some ppl put over 20,000$ in there motor i was just wondering
is your car an automatic or a 5 spd?
an auto i found the head in an auto with ecu and harness but the car does not start i can get the ecu redone and order the sub harness
save your money and swap to a 5spd. This is coming from an accord guy who has owned VTEC and nonVTEC and 5spd and auto accords
so just swap the tranny? out and do non vtec? i have a 4 door
yes. your auto tranny is a piece of shit and will probably die out in a little while any way. dont worry about VTEC. you can build your motor later on
haha this car is pretty much my daily for right now until i can start buildin something
the tranny swap shouldnt take more than a day if you have all the stuff and you know what you're doing
ok thanks alot
Heres a little swap list to help get things going:
1. 5 speed transmission (F22, F23, H22, H23)
2. 5 speed starter (90-02 Accord 92-02 Prelude)
3. 5 speed shifter assembly w/ shifter cables (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
4. 5 speed drivers side axle (your year accord, but from 5-spd version)
5. 5 speed intermediate shaft (your year accord, but from 5-spd version)
6. 5 speed clutch pedal assembly (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
7. 5 speed brake pedal arm (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
8. Clutch master cylinder w/ reservoir (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
9. Clutch line from Clutch master cylinder to clutch dampener (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
10. Clutch dampener assembly (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
11. Clutch line from Clutch dampener to 5 speed tranny (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
12. Clutch line from 5 speed tranny to slave cylinder (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
13. Slave cylinder (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
14. Clutch (90-02 Accord 92-01 Prelude)
15. Flywheel (90-02 Accord 92-01 Prelude)
16. 5 speed mount (Your year, 5-spd version)
17. 5 speed mount bracket (go to honda - tell them to look for the bracket that is welded on the car - part is S.O.P and costs 15-25.00) (see notes)
18. MIG WELDER (you'll have to weld that 5spd mount)
19. BOLTS: 8 Flywheel Bolts, 6 Pressure Plate Bolts, 3 Intermediate Shaft Bolts, 1 Long Tranny Bolt
20. Recommended: HELMS Service Manual (www.helminc.com)
This kid just wants VTEC on the intake valves only apparently.
Now THAT is just a waste of time.
thats what i was tryin to tell him. waste of money for not that much HP improvement. There are better things to do to an accord than swap over to VTEC, and that is swap over to 5spd. Better to control the HP you have
no i dont really care about a valve cover? if i did id just make a sticker to put on it witch is stupid pretty much but i mean i was just asking a question but thanks for the advice

w0rd i was thinking about it when i first got the car i seen an accord 96 with a tsx swap
Its a nice swap, but its really just novelty. You can make about the same power out of a H22Originally Posted by 97accordlx
yeah but the k24 just looks so good. haha. let me know about that ecu because when i put it in my car. my car ran a bit laggy and wouldn't rev over 4500 i think, maybe because i had a CEL and the ecu is jdm. but when i stuck a usdm p13 in it worked fine. i'll give it to you for free if you need it.Originally Posted by blank cd

isn't there only one 5th gen accord with a k24? it was owned by hasport then some guy bought it off of them i thinkOriginally Posted by 97accordlx
only plus side to this swap is the torque band. other than that, engine/tranny is gonna be 4grand. same if not more than an obd2 H22A, gotta find mounts and new header, radiator, intake, harnesses, and then find someone who's never done this swap before and pay them to do it. lookin at 5-7 grand for 160hp and being the select few w/ a K swapped CD accord.
H22 engines are all over the place, and if you had an erector set when you were a kid, you can swap this motor yourself. plus you got 220hp. all the extra shit like intakes and headers will bolt right up![]()
