burning oil??

Alright, I blew the motor in my 98 civic at 86k miles. I did a motor swap with another d16y8. My new motor was from Pacific motors in atlanta and was clean as hell, looked like it had low miles on it. Anyway, it has been maybe 300 miles since the swap, only a week and ive lost 2 quarts of oil. I'm not driving it right now since thats how i blew the last motor(only i didnt know it was low) So what could that be?? I know the valves rattle so I have to get them adjusted but thats the only other problem I have with it, a nd the oil isnt leaking out because its never under where I park my car overnight or anything. How much oil you loosing? Another question have you pulled the spark plug wires and theres oil on them the wires i mean?

get a leakdown then compression test done at a reputable shop.. this will tell you what's wrong

i'm guessing bad piston rings

get the tests done asap and then try to discuss it with the company you bought the motor from

Yes, it need a new seal on top of the spark plu cover were the wire goes inn. Thats it this is do to high reving engine that the seal breaks. Same thing happend to me thats why I i asked. Since no oil being lost in the engine anywere you know.

This might be the problem since you said that when you pulled out spark plug #3 it had oil then this def is your problem. Also when you swaped it did you start to rev it high rpm? If so this happens when this is done.

revving high doesnt blow the gasket.

that has nothing to do with revving high LOL. who old you that?

To the OP, compression and leak down test first. then get an OIL CHANGE. then record how much your consuming before you have to add 1 qt.
