GSR would be the best bet for your buck.....
the b16a2(si) is also a very strong motor.
can always do what the craze is now LS/Vtec( LS block with vtec head)
and ITR (b18cR is tha jdm model i believe) one of teh best motors stock.

    B18c1=USDM 170hp
B18C= JDM GSR SIR-G OR ITR , depends if it has LSD or not. JDM GSR has 180hp, JDM ITR has 190-200 hp
    B18A/B=LS 145hp
    B16A2/3=1.6l 160hp

GSR SWAPS run around $2200-3500 depengind on year and mileage
ITR swaps run $4500 for JDM ITR

GSR is the best for the money IMO

Expect labor to be around $700 to $1200

the power difference is so miniscule it's not even worth noting.
The B18A has about 140 and the B18B is closer to 145 like Mr. Kidd said.

The LS block IMO, is the best building block for a B series engine. You can do ANYTHING to it and still achieve decent gains/results because of it's moderate displacement. boost? all motor? supercharging? even (heaven forbid) nitrous? the LS is tough.

yes your right, but i didnt feel like typing anymore. most people equate them with being the same, as WHP dynos are VERYVERY similar between the 2.

    Oh yeah

B20B/Z are also good motors- 2.0l 84mm bore

I've got a slightly massaged b16. My car comes with that engine stock so I didn't want to change blocks. I kind of like having matching vin's on my engine and car. If I were to do a swap I would probably be looking at a gsr or Ls/vtec. Just keep in mind that you are still swapping in a stock engine and it is not going to be unbelievably fast. You will however have a good starting point for future mods. I would say go ahead and get a good header/intake/exhaust system and see how you enjoy it. If you still want more power and love the car, open that bitch up and do the head, (cams, springs, retainers). Also go ahead and get the ecu socketed and chipped so you can get a custom map burned and be able to tune for any upgrades that you do.

so you sayin mod a stock civic dx motor?
would that even be worth it?
like i used to own a 300zx and a crx si and a carmaro like one day i want the civic to run as fast as the zx did
what is the best way to get similar speed?

No, not mod a DX motor. A GSR motor is still a stock engine is what I am saying. It is not going to be a race car just because of a swap. What I am saying is, do the swap, however, in order to achieve the power that you want, be prepared to spend another 2-3k to make it a truly powerful engine. ie: cams, valvetrain, headwork, quality header, exhaust, intake manifold, engine management, etc.

if i were you and you had the money. Spend it on the motor you have in there. Now i know everyone will flame me yada yada i dont care . for the money you spent on that swap and seeing you dont know hondas you paid to get it swapped. Edelbrock kit and some head work...go to D-series.org If you think you have to swap then spend all that money then let us race i own you with 1k worth of stuff on my y8 then you'll be like wtf? I guess if you want 500+hp go B or H but if you want 350ish i would go with D think about it, you mess something up how cheap is a d series engine..150-600 bucks direct drop in.

B18C5 is the type R motor. Sweet motor, but I think it also has the highest CR out of the B series. Then there is the B16B, the Civic type R (CTR) motor. The cams in this head are the largest, even bigger than the ITR cams. The CTR and ITR motor are almost the same price. If you go with the LS motor, get the B16A, or A2, head. It has the best flow next to the ITR head, and is much cheaper. I blew my B16A2 and got a B16A installed for around 3K, including new clutch, flywheel, Skunk 2 cam gears, and many more. Ask for Tom at Honda and Acura Specialists in Jonesboro. He knows his shit.

See, that's what I'm screaming. I'm running the b20 block with a built b18c1 head. And I wouldn't want it any other way. Next step is blueprinting and I'm going .40 over.

i wish we knew how much money you are trying to spend......and 99si i disagree that he wont feel a huge difference.

i had a 94 coupe with the d16z6(which is a lot better than his dx motor) and now i have a gs-r plus some shit but i felt a HUGE difference......maybe its just me but b-series is the shit......and dont even think about a h22 by the way!! i hate em
