need help bad sr20det running bad

ok, so i got my sr in the car now, but it doesnt run so well. first, im running on old remnamts of 87 octane fuel. probably stale by now. second the turbo has way too much shaft play. the idle is really rough, i have to give it some gas to keep it going. when it gets up there in the RPMs, it takes a while to come back down, comes down real slow. then when i take the spark plugs out i see that numbers 1 & 4 both look wet and kinda clean while numbers 2 & 3 look covered in soot. compression tested it today, all good there. thank god. but not im still in the shit here. anybody have any ideas?

the motor is ok, its something else buddy. and all in all, i have about $3200 in everything...including buying the car. now if nobody has anything helpful to say, just dont say anything at all.

you should of cleaned out the whole fuel system. A person i knew in his SR, one of the fuel injectors got stuck and cause the engine to fuck up. Also look into getting another turbo. The motor probablly is recovering from your lil fuck up. THERE IS A REASON WHY TURBO CARS RUN ON 93 AND NOTHING LESS. You're lucky if its still running. I"m not bashing you, just giving you ideas. having 87 octane in it wont affect the idle unless the gas itself is bad. 87 otane will however cause it to detonate itself to death in boost. id start by trying to clean your idle air control valve and replacing the plugs and gapping them correctly. also check if youve got any trouble codes

its got new plugs in it. and the car isnt driveable yet for me to get it to a gas station to pill the tank with 93 octane. theres not alot of 83 in there anyways, maybe a gallon or 2. the new plugs are gapped at .026". how can i clean the idle air control valve? because of the body chassis harness and the sr ecu harness, trouble codes are pretty much a no go right now.

26 is to small it will misfire at idle with that small of a gap

what is the factory gap supposed to be on a SR? and if i buy a turbo rebuild kit for the T25 turbo, should it come with the bearing? and if i go that route, should replacing the bearing fix the endplay? i mean, theres alot of shaftplay in the turbo. and then, how the hell do you blow the turbo on a stock setup?

you cant rebuild a t25 yourself, they have to balanced. they wear out over time.

why can't i? i have a machine shop. shit, im practically an engineer. im sure i can balance it or get it balanced somewhere. im just a little stumped on this whole thing. but in fact, you should start watching TLC. try and catch biker build off, the one with Brian Fuller(Fuller Hotrods). we cut his wheels, rear sprocket, ofsets for the front brake, and some other odds and ends. i think the other guy was like westmorer or something, somewhere in Cali. But, our Atlanta rep lost the show. people like the baby blue pussy bike rather than the Green Machine. when Buell gave him the 2 bikes though, we abused one of them pretty badly. you have any idea ow heavy one of those mufflers weighs though? shits like 40 lbs...for a muffler on a motorcycle!

ok then why bother asking questions at all then? i wouldnt bother with a t25 anyway. you can pick them up for $100-$200 all day or get a s15 turbo new for $700.

because $700 is expensive. and if i can rebuild it i can get the rebuild kit for like $65 shipped. so...$65 vs $700. you got $700 to spare and ill buy the t28. then you can pay for my spexi and tuning too. so yea, right now, to get the motor running right, $65 is alot better option.

Hey man, this might help you being serious. When I got my CA and was a dumbass and ran old old 87 through it, it ran like absolute hell. I ran some "SEA FOAM" through it (through vacuum intake and gas tank) and once it ran through wow... Ran hella better. Of coarse I fried my plugs with all that shit that was in my motor but the difference was well worth the 20 bucks in spark plugs and a can of sea foam

thanks. you know what it was? when i did the wiring, i looked online for a q45 ignitor into sr20det harness pinout. well, that pinout had # 1 and 4 wires switched. so basically, instead of sparking at the right time, those 2 sparked 360 degrees out, or 2 strokes. so i got to thinking, and i thought about hat and my friends and i tried it, it ran great until the turbo siezed up. now, it doesn't start, but when you turb it over, you can hear the turbo pop. it kinda turns a few turns then it sounds like a bubble or 2 or something. but that turbo was garbage anyways. i just need to see if it's sending oil now and find another t25. if you know anyone with a used t25 turbo they don't want, even if its garbage, lemme know please. and where are you at?
