    Default Need some tranny help!!!

    Hey there,
I wanted to know how much would it cost to repair or replace the synchos for my third gear. If I drive more than 2 hours it is a hassle shift in and out of the gear (scratches, not that bad). I went to a local shop to ask around and the mechanic was so nice to say " I don't even think about pullin a tranny for less than $500 and engine tuning starts a $250 an hour. After I picked up my mouth from the floor I decided I need to really find out how much this costs. I'm sure someone out here has had the same prob. Any info?? I live in NC but I am willing to drive to ATL if the price is right!

    Thanks

800-1000 for a b-series tranny overhaul. better off buying another used one from someone you know.

    thats an understatment.

lets factor this in, this is what i cahrge

$350 to drop trans, and reinstall it
$150 to do anything inside the tranny

your looking at ROUGHLY 100-300 in parts (2nd-3rd synchro, hopefully the selector is still good)

thats 600-800 right there. if you need more than one synchro, its gets expensive
