    Default what should i do?

I don't have any compression on my motor. It is in a 1993 civic dx. It is a 1.5 sohc non vtec. What should I do? What is the cheapest thing to do. I know that I can do a motor swap but I do not have much money. Do you think I should try to rebuild the head? If so I have another motor that someone gave me, but he threw a rod in it.That motor is a 1.6 sohc non vtec. Let me know what you think I should do.

    Thanks

is it 0 compression on all cylinders? it also depends on where ur losing compression at. do a leakdown test. it will tell u where its leaking from. if you hear the air leaking in the intake, then its an intake valve, if its in the exhaust, then an exhaust valve, in the crankcase, then rings or a hole in a piston, or coolant then a head gasket or crack in the head or block. then u can go from there.

not trying to be and ass but ,

do you knwo how to do a comp test,? CLT?

do as 3kgt told you do a leak down tet and go from there. or take it to ome one who knows .

since oyu say it doesnt have compression in 1 cylinder doesnt ness have to be the block, could be hte head, head gasket ,.. . lol jus tlook at 3kgt post.

but defenately determine where its leaking compression from

If that is really what the compression is at, it would probably be cheaper to just replace the engine.

I would have to agree with Magius. It would be cheaper to purchase a used motor than rebuild the old one. You should be able to find a d16 for pretty cheap too.

ya its smarterr to buy another USED MOTOR that will prob give you a head ache after xxx amount of miles then rebuild one that you know gonna last you over 100k

not necessarily....i bout my motor now in my civic that a few people on the boards can vouch for with perfect compression...would have cost me around 300 to rebuild my other d series and i got this one for $120 from a friend and it had 60k on it...now i mean i wouldnt replace a 150k motor with another but it does make sense MOST of the time...its pointless to rebuild a D for stock, especially for those who cant do a rebuild or afford the downtime you come off just as cheap getting another engine
    FUCK B&D COMMUNICATIONS!

true you got a great deal cosidering the mileage and condition but not everyone has homies to hook them up or good connections at that
know get me a single cam z6 lol. .

jp.. awaiting my old b16 from my 4 door to put inot my eg'

    ok bakc to the topic

if you get a good deal liek steveo then why not go for it .
But if your gonna buy it from a shop and mileage condition is unsure, your best bet is to rebuild

Depending where you purchase the motor from can determine if you are going to have headaches in the future. To rebuilt a motor RIGHT it will cost you almost twice as much as rebuilding a motor.

get a JDM D15B vtec engine. they go for about $400. (130HP)

    check it.

or you can just go back with a d15b7 for $300.

someone offered me an H22 for $1000 but how much do you think it would cost to swap it in to my car. and is it worth the money. i think the motor mounts would be about 600.

if you go with the h22 , you need to look into wirin , axles , mounts , ecu , if you stay d series, the swap will be sooooo much easier and cheaper
