Default 1999 old golf gl *EDIT: 2 pics so far*

i'm getting a 1999 golf gl 4dr on wednesday, and i've been looking at some aftermarket stuff... but everything is either 93-98 or 99-05... i guess the generation splits in 99... mine is gonna be the older version so if buying parts like strut bars and headlights, should i just go by the 93-98 parts?

any replies will help, i'm a honda guy mainly, but this car is super nice and i needed a new car so i'm new to the dub scene, ya know?

Here's the pics, i took them when i went to look at the car last week... I get it tomorrow, and more pics then. And remember, The paint doesnt look great until you see it for yourself... I hate two tone personally, but i love this one... oh and check the leather with red suede inserts...

If you are buying a 99 it's an Mk4. So are you asking if stuff from 93-98 is going to work? I am confused.

What engine? But GIAC and APR are the top brands IMO.

If I owned a 2.slo and wanted decent power I would definatly go with the Bahn Brenner kit. Stage III is capable of 250+ whp

    heres a link to it.
    http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/B...KIII_2_0L.html

Its a little price but if you got the money its a great upgrade.

You might wanna also check out The Vortex and do some research they have all kinds of info there if you search for it.

I personally dont really like the neuspeed chips. They just arent that agressive and only really just remove the rev limiter with what ive seen with my old motor. You wanna probably go with GIAC they are used by alot of people and i had there chip on my mk4 1.8t. They tend to make good power.

I agree that the Bahn Brenner supercharger will get you more power, but the Neuspeed supercharger setup is commonly found for $1500 used, and it brings you close to 150whp. If you really need a lot of power, you could follow my plan: I'm planning to build up a 2.0 with new pistons, rods etc. and twincharge it. That means I'm going to have both a turbocharger and a supercharger on the car. The turbo will be larger and won't spool until 3000 rpm or so, but the supercharger will provide more power until the turbo spools.

But for basic mods, I would do this:
    -GIAC chip
    -Techtonics Exhaust
    -K&N Air Filter
    -OBX Header
    -Neuspeed Short Shift Linkage
    -Cup Kit suspension setup

it's already got a k&n filter, nopi exhaust, neuspeed springs and neuspeed short shifter... looking like the giac chip though...

and i know i'll get some hate for the exhaust, but it actually sounds reallllly good... better than the greddy exhaust on my civic even.

sounds like a crazy setup that will make mad power for a 2.slo did you already start this build or are you still saving up for it, sounds mighty expensive. Once you start the project i want to see progress every step of the way :boobies:

yeah, that does sound like a crazy set-up... must cost you a pretty penny also... but hey, it's unique and thats what the scene is all about.

Hey man on second thought you might wanna think about ditching the springs and instead of chipping it get a nice set of coilovers for it and resell the springs.

Reason being, unless your gonna go FI with the 2.0 ABA your not gonna get much power. So you might as well make it handle well to compensate. Plus nothing else is hotter than a dropped dub.

There was actually a really badass mk3 golf 2.0 here in ATL i havnt seen it in a while but ive got pics

yeah, the guy before me re-did the seats and took the head rests out, i guess to make the front and back seats look flush, ya know? and the two tone, yeah i hate 2 tone shit, but when you see this one yourself you like "oh... ok thats actually not bad at all" but pics dont do it justice... but i still may paint it all black, maybe go with some bronze wheels.. you guys will see it at the varstiy in feb if you go... look for it... and i'll get some more "justifying pics" tomorrow or saturday.
