    Default KA24DE rpm's

    I have a question about my stock KA24DE in my 93 hatch. When i gear down and nail it in third my engine seems to do something that is similar to vtec. When i floor it and its at about 4-5.5k rpm's it picks up just fine but when it hits 5.5k it kicks in alot harder....like a honda with vtec would.....is this normal? I have driven other stock 240's like mine and some did the same thing while others didn't...anyone know what this is? Sorry if this seems like a noobish question...any help would be appreciated thanks !

    lol yeah it will go all the way to redline, ive done it once or twice but i dont want to push it......and then ka-boom :/

    sounds about right around 4-5k, basically it's in the ignition timing, it may be a little on the advanced side compared to other 240's you've been in, but if the car's not sputtering or overheating then don't mess with anything. 4-5k feels torquey, after 5.5k it plateus kinda. you're fine

    ive had a few nissan trucks that did the same thing, what mine did is that the clutch fan would spin as fast as all the other pulleys when its not supposed to, then when it hit that certain rpm where it finally started slipping a little like it should, you could fell a little extra power....i love ka

    yeah ive already replaced my fan clutch once :/ there notorious(sp)? for going bad....i want to do an electrical fan upgrade

    i dont think i've owned one that would rev past 5k and i've had 3 or 4.

    ^ are you serious? you couldnt get a ka to go past 5000 rpm? mine redlines at like 7200
