    Default 97 Vortec 4.3

Ive got a 97 4.3 Vortec engine from a 97 Blazer, blown head gasket and low oil pressure. Long block with oil pan, maybe intake too.

Needs rebuilding. $100 as is or I will have it rebuilt for you.

Vin/block code posted in the A.M. with pics.

    $20

How much work would it be to bolt that in a 88 s-10? It had a 2.8 or 2.9 V6 in it before.

BTW I know I'll need an ECU for it. Just need to know if it'll be a direct drop in or need to change mounts and such.

Do you know if this engine is the newer Vortec engine as opposed to the older Vortec engines? If so, I will ask my dad if he wants to buy it for his S10.

I have no clue what your asking. It is from a 97 Blazer. It is a 97 model.

There were a couple different engines available in the S10's and other chevy trucks and vans with the 4.3L. What kind of Blazer was it (what trim model)? That may be able to help a little. The main thing that was changed is the heads. The newer 4.3L engines heads flowed much better than the older 4.3's.

No clue, trim level will have no effect on this engine.

I used to know all this stuff but I have forgotten so much about the TBI/Vortec engines since moving on to Toyotas.

I'm pretty sure that Chevrolet came out with the "Vortec" engines in 1988, however they were not called Vortec till 1994.

They were not Vortecs back in 88. They were TBI swirl port heads.
