No clue... The minimal weight reduction I've done may have gotten it down around 2700lbs or so, but that is all speculation.Originally Posted by Incontt
I think I was personally most impressed with the first pull - 278whp @ 9.5 psi! I am very happy. This is the first engine I've ever built; first engine I've ever actually tuned (other than something like a piggy back controller). When I was putting it together I decided to go overkill on the build to keep it safe with a modest turbo to avoid the lag of a 2L engine. My goal was 400whp on pump gas. This car will never see race gas, for it is a daily driver and the only time it would see race gas is for a big dyno - which is kind of pointless in my opinion. I do think I could get some more out of it on pump gas though. That turbo should be efficient to at least 22psi, but the dyno(s) did not reflect that. The car made 407rwhp at 19.5 psi. The last pull was at about 21.5psi or so. In my opinion it should've made a little more than 8whp with the extra 2psi. I think with the aid of an intercooler cooler of some sort (nitrous or co2 or something) it could've done a little better.Originally Posted by Mr. 2JZKIDD
I wish someone had video taped the whole day or something. Normally dyno videos are boring to me, but there is something about seeing your own car up there emitting a bone-rattling scream toward redline.
Did anyone else think their afrs seemed a little lean? My tuning was about dead on with my Innovate wideband, but the probe reported a little too lean for my taste. Which should I trust?
the sniffer is usually off .5-1 point AFR from what a WIDEBAND would read.
IMO, its DANGEROUS to run that much boost on pump gas, Built motor or not. 20psi is about the threshold on pump gas.but hey, not my call lol. 1 detonation will kill those pistons at that boost level.
If i were you, id get it tuned on the dyno ( i assume you street tuned this) and be conservative with it an see what its doing.
The car was prob heatsoaking, thats why there wasnt a big change between 2psi.
put it this way, Nyteryders made 400whp on pump gas at 19psi. On race gas, at 23psi, he only made 444whp. an hes beating EVERYONE right now.
you sir have a fast car, congrats!

I agree about the boost level. The only reason I decided to bump it was because in the back of my mind I kept thinking about a Chevy small block-lovin' coworker of mine's comment about my car only making 300whp heh. Pride does nothing but get you in trouble =P. The tune is pretty modest, and I only run about 18-19psi on the street. I figured it was probably heatsoaking, that's why I was thinking about one of those cooler kits of sorts to possibly help out. Maybe even a water/alcy injection kit could be seen in the future...Originally Posted by Mr. 2JZKIDD
Thanks for the congrats. I've finally realized my 4 year dream of building a 400whp pump gas SR-powered S13. The dishes are done, dude![]()

Did Greg win the turbo 4cylinder class??
When he left he said he thought he may have been the highest but he wasn't sure if iloveboost was gonna dyno.
Shit can't beat 417hp on pump gas on a daily driver. Str8 off the wastegate. No boost controller nothing.
Damn and to think we assembled that motor in Danny's(B18c1turboedEK) garage late one night and we were all tired as fuck.
Can't beat that ISP Racing!!! I was truely impressed.
I really want Greg to get some dyno time and really tune it.
