June 11th Mountain Run!

*UPDATE* There is a huge bicycle race in the usual area on Sunday, alternate route and time has been made.

Time: Sunday, June 11th - 11:00am
Location: Home Depot - Hwy. 400 N. across from the Premium Outlet Mall in Dawson Co.

Meeting at Home Depot @ 11am or so and heading north at 11:30. Please bring radios (walkie-talkies) if you have them, portable CB radios are a plus!

We'll discuss the route once we meet and I have credit card sized maps printed with all the roads and general landmarks labeled just in-case anyone gets seperated...we normally make several stops to re-group anyways: couple gas stations, major interesections, etc. Goood times.

since there's not many of us should we just stop somewhere and get food instead of trying to cook out? just wondering.

good idea...I know there are many places to get food up by North Ga college. There is a wendy's, zaxbys, subway, capitin D's, taco bell, mcdonald's, pizza hut, and a couple more...

I normally try to avoid downtown [dahlonega] before a mtn run, just depends on the group. We could always eat up in Helen too.

It's all still just a golfball and metal baseball bats distance from the Sheriff's Office, and all within the patrol area of the city officer who happens to be on the same frequency as the county officers....I lived in Dahlonega for 15years and have a scanner in my car

I acutally havent had any issue with the dahlonega cops...now I did almost get arrested for throwing a cell phone a my X's head, but that is different...

No issues with them, i just don't want them calling ahead when they see a dozen cars roll into town together.

so many mountain runs. I might make it but my bimmer is stock and my corolla is down for the count for a little bit. If i do go i will be taking the bimmer up there and take it easy down the mountain and take pics and stuff.

Hehee... I've driven it, and pretty quickly but it was a little umm.... eek!

Especially since it was my first time ever on that road and it was after that snow up in the mountains a couple of months ago..... can you say "gravel".

That's Hwy. 60 overlooking R-Ranch, it's a fun lil road and i can drive it blindfolded...couldn't tell you how many exotics i've run on that stretch

Oh yeah by the way guys, i can't make the 11th. Saturday night after the drift event im going to a party and i won't be back by 10 am, because it's a 2hr 30min drive back, and i probably won't be leaving super early. However, count me in on June 18th. I will be there, and i'll even put the mufflers back on my car for the sake of your hearing!

just a lookout for you guys on a race i'm competing in on sunday in the mountains over there...the cops will be numerous as they are our escorts in these races...here's a map of where my race is taking place...i race at 8am, and they'll be races starting directly after mine is finished at 12pm...just an fyi...please be courteous to the cyclists here, cause i know a couple people who have been injured in the mountains due to careless drivers...
