Fwhatevaz, Atlanta PD hates -everything-FYI i was conversing with a cop and the word from him is that ATL PD hates the varsity meet.
Set your white balance for night or flourescent, or get a gray card and do an auto white balance. Cop a copy of Photoshop CS2 because Camera Raw 3.4 has pretty good WB auto correction. Without a flash you'll be shooting ISO 800 or 1600 on a tripod. Get an F2.8 or lower lens too.

nah, from talking to him they didnt care when it was just some friends having a good time. then some rice boys caught wind, then known gangbangers, then the rest of the assholes followed. he said at one point the didnt care, (and that was once they figured out it existed) but now they hate it and i dont blame him. only reason i went was for the food seeing as ive been avoiding going on a thursday like the plague, but i needed some grease. its really gotten to be a big disgrace for all car enthusists.sucks for the good people that the assholes are going to ruin it.
I can see why it would bug them.... but it would be nice if they did something like keep the area around Underground safe on weekends or get the homeless people off of Peachtree street before they run all of the tourism out of the city or any of the other 500 things that are hurting the city more than the Varsity meet.
I had never attender this Varsity meet until last night. It was a great meet with an incredible turn out.
I missed the escalade burning out and blowing his tranny, I would have loved to catch that on film. I saw the biker guy doing his burn out, that was about it. It was pretty cool and civil for the most part, no body really acting up (atleast not till they got out of the parking lot).
Great Meet, and ATL have some nice cars to show off!
Varsity wasnt too bad last night.
But the usual gay mother fuckers in the bikes that have to burn out to make up for their small wanks, and the queers that have to rev their little hondas in the parking lot like they have F1 cars. Shit is stupid, but couldnt expect anything more from people like that.
at some points it seemed like people were having a little "rev battle" one car would rev then another, then another back ...

It definitely has changed a lot.. when I first went you could fit all of the cars in the show on the upper parking deck.
The problems at the Varsity meets aren't with the quantity of people. The problems are with the quality of the people.
Like somebody else said in this thread, school is out. Which means, all the new blood is out and getting Mommy and Daddy to buy them a turbocharged car just like they saw in a movie. The result is the irrisponsible people you see. As for the older people that carry themselves like that...grow the fuck up.

THE VARSITY MEET IS LAME, I went there at 9:45-10pm and They wouldnt even let us in, and there were parking spaces... What a LAME.. This was my first time going too.... Im dissappointed in all this LAME ASS BULLSHIT... I wanted to hang out and meet new people... But Naw, The police wouldnt let me and my boyz in the lot....

Last time i shot with 1600 iso my pics were really grainy... I don't think i'd shoot over 400 or 800...
Any suggestions on lenses? I am using the one that came with the camera however the one that did come with it was supposedly a little better than the normal one. Its a quantaray 28-90. I'd like a better lense but don't really have a ton of cash to spend on it...
F woudl be F stop right? Thats the number on the ring on the very back of the lense? If thats so it looks like it only goes down to 3.5.
flipture, if you can get your hands on the d70 kit lense, it will work well for now... its not too expensive either.
did your camera not come with the 28-50 nikon lense?

Also what is the functional difference between a lense with a lower F and one with a higher F?
the higher the fstop (ie 2.8, 2.0) the faster the lense is... but usually is more expensive.
