Just wait until the end of the week, it depends on the amount of people going and I have to know how many hamburgers to prepare anyways. There is a couple little stores/gas stations just a few miles away...the park has a "grocery" store too. We usually end up sending a runner to get more drinks, ice, buns, etc. anyways.

Im new here but I been on mountain runs before. I want to go but we have to be careful because last time I was on my way there for a mountain run, all of the 10 or more cars I was with, got pulled over for doin 45 in a 60 or 65 zone. And Forsyth County is expensive. It seems like they want to put a stop on those runs.

45 in a 60 45 over? or 45 in a 60...if it's the latter then i'd probably have public indecency charges after whipping it out and telling him to suck it.

BUT anyways, here's a little statistic for you....i've been on those roads for 10 years...zero tickets (minus the speeding E30 southbound 400 dawson co. and he wasn't even with the group at the time) and no accidents that were any of our peoples fault...a bike slid into Nemesis and collins went rally racing a ditch but other than that no problems. knock on wood.

Its not about being careful, its about being smart. There isnt any point in exceeding the speed limit by much on the highway or other roads getting to the runs. I doubt them giving you a speeding ticket had a damn thing to do with the fact that you were going on the run, especially since the runs usually start 2 counties away!

So tempting! What time will you guys get up to Vogel? I might meet you there after church if the wife doesn't complain too much!

Might be a nice little get away with the boys and I for fathers day! But I'll probably be at the end (or at least in the middle) of the pack with the little ones in the Lude. This might be a warmup for them for when we go up the the Dragons Tail in July...

I would anticipate around noon to 12:30. You know we normally stop and regroup 2 or 3 times by the time we get to the gas station above Vogel.

if i can get the car back together in time i'll probably come in that. if not i'll put the bike back together (notice a trend?) assuming i can make it at all.

How long will you be staying then? I won't be leaving the Suwannee area until at least 12:30 if I head up there. Hopefully you won't have left before I get there!

I'm sure we'll still be there...normally it's 2:30 or so before i start making car noises and wanting to trade the wooden bench for my leather seats.

I want to go, I can bring plates and cups. If nobody else already said they would. Or I can bring cookies because I am the desert man. Do you have an exact address of the meeting spot? I have never been need to MapQuest it. Thanks.

PS I want to drive last lol. I have never driven hard in the mountains, done autocross, karting, track days at Road Atlanta, but no mountains.

I drive slow in the mountains anyway. No matter how much suspension I have, I still drive the same. I definitely dont want to go on a run with a bunch of heroes.

OK, cool. According to Yahoo maps, it's like 60 miles and should take an hour and a half. We'll see if I go though I'll miss lunch...

BTW, here's the parks address for those meeting there...

Looking at Vogel's site, if I don't go this Sunday, I may make a trip up there on a Sat w/ the boys and do some fishing and swimming there (in addition to getting to drive Neel Gap). If I go this route, I'll try to post to see if anyone wants to join me for Sat...

Picnic? I'll let you know tomorrow. I have to see if i'm deemed to not be able to work for a while (which i'm pretty sure i'm not), and I'll go with a friend or two.

Ahh, don't call such an outing a picnic! I am not picturing us all sitting together in an open field or on a rock next to a waterfall on grandma's blanket feeding each other grapes. This is a cookout my friend...raw marinated beef sizzling on the grill, smoke in our eyes, making fun of each others aftermarket car parts decisions years ago

Most IA girls are gross. My girlfriend will probably ride with me. She likes the mountains. We went to the top of Brasstown Bald last Jan. early one morning and it started snowing like a mother.
