    What a great event...

That dude in the black fox-body mustang and the guys in that little red 1st gen miata with the blue rear wheels....... HOLY FUCK ME...

Andy in that 330ci, the guys in that red boosted mustang d1 car, Sam in that gold S13 from Tiger racing, and also that skinny fella with that red 1st gen RX7...

wow, props to those guys.. they REALLY stuck it in there!

I lost track of the dates with stuff I've got going on right now on the side, and forgot all about this date! I showed up like around 1pm or so.. so I didn't want to pay $90 and a couple sets of tires for a few more hours of running.. haha. I'll pay the $90 and get a FEW sets of tires ready, and come play all day this next time! lol

btw, Ran Kizama.. were u wearing the white helmet?? because I noticed that ya'll had a couple of guys running that car during the day.. that car is hot, and u had a couple pretty nice drifts around that back swooping right turn coming into the last chicane.... try running a higher pressure in your rear tires next time, the sidewalls nearly folded on ya a couple times it looked like around that corner! lol

totally badass event and props to anyone that bothered to register, unlike my completely lame-ass that totally forgot about it until about noon, the day of.

    peace..

Thanks a lot man. Actually I had the black helmet with the chrome visor. The one with the white helmet was actually Marty and he drifted the piss outta my car in 4TH GEAR . The tire pressure was at about 32 so it shoulda been about right, but those Toyo's do suck. I dunno, this was my first event in nearly a year. My entry is good but I just can't get it to come out of the corner the way I want it to. Just gonna have to keep practicing.

Glad to see a lot of familiar faces out there and I look forward to sliding with you guys next time! Good stuff!

    Ran,

Thanks for the drive again, 4th gear was fun

Like I said Saturday, work on your throttle control and you'll be gold. I was REALLY impressed with your initiations, now you just need to follow through. See you at the next event!

He had two more blue wheels, but he found out that the tires were showing the belts so he had to make due. It might have looked goofy, but he's a cool guy.

BTW, you gonna slide the S2K?

The white Miata with the black front wheels? That was me and I only had a couple of good runs. Low HP + open diff = crappy drift car. As for the other Miatas, Marty's driving was very impressive, The black Miata was doing a good job and the red Mazdspeed turbo Miata was also doing pretty good as long as he was not spinning out.

Translation: He wasn't doing very good at all.

I was surprised at the number of Miata's out there tho. Usually it's just one or two but there were like 4 or 5 out there. Glad to see the little drop-top getting some recognition.

lol.. well yes.. I agree with you. open diffs are no fun to mess with, but you did have a couple nice slides!

other than that. Yes, I have been drifting for a while.. lol, I'd probably, I started REALLY drifting alot, like nearly every night, and a few hours during the weekends off, around spring of 2003 or so.. right b4 i graduated Highschool..

I used to have an '85 Corolla gts-twincam hatchback, with a 4A-GZE swap, cusco 1.5way, trd rings/pistons/sleeves/rods, jic modded-custom f/r struts and springs to fit my car, and also a trd rear swaybar and custom front lower x-brace... I learned in that car. I think it was fate, that that was my first car to do anything with really.. other than my '04 Scion xB!!!!!! OH SNAP! :jerkit:

and I've been through exactly 142 hours and counting, of professional driving schools... Skip Barber, Bob Bondurant, and Jim Willis... all from summer of '03, until just recently this last summer of '05..

NOW, I finally have my dream car.. the S2000... its not a car engineered to drift, but lets just say, I could make the S2000 look like its a purpose-engineered car to drift. lol!!!!

I'm going to pre-register for April 8th here in another week.. I should have my new sets of rear tires by then!!

so ya, expect to see my lard ass, driving sideways around turner field April 8th. lol

    ttyl...

btw, despite the fact of having alot of miatas out in force there this last saturday.. and the fact that the dude with the blue wheels on that red miata.. He couldn't drive for jackass shit. lol :idb:

See if you can't diable that traction control system on the S2K. The last time I saw an S2K try to drift, he basically autocrossed the course because the TCS wouldn't let the rear slide out.

DITTO!!!!!! how about the guy in the 1991 MR2?? lol... its a shame he went out there in an open-diff MR car.. wow, that should have said or flashed something to him RIGHT off the bat.. lol

instead, I don't think he actually ended up getting ONE point of oversteer, that ended up going in the direction he was intending it to.. lol

= massive smoke, and ended up burning out his passenger rear tire and exposing about 5-7belts.. lol, then drove off on a spare, and came back with a new tire... and ended up doing the same damn thing.. lmao

good shit.. at least he came there and tried to learn in the proper environment.. instead of trying to drift around his apartment complex and running into his superintendant's Buick Regal, or hitting the garbage man.. or someshit.. lol!!!!

smart thinking.. then again, i bet he wishes, it wasn't as large of a public venue, it ended up turning into! lol :idb:

Shit, like sunburned? I got sunburned like crazy. I mean damn, my stupid ass forgot that the sun still exists even when it's cold outside haha.

One of the best parts of the day had to be being harrassed by a homeless guy while in Ran's car after the competition. "This nice car and all you can't even buy me a Baby Ruth?" Gotta love ATL.

    +1

It was worth it though, since they crowds ran like hell when my car backfired. Ghetto much?

Yeah that MR2 spun out every turn I think. I was wondering how it would do, did not know if he had a secret or something. I am burnt too it sucks lol. I kind of want to go to the April 9 event in my 240, but have never done it before, I have drifted but only practice in parking lots, at night, away from anyone and anything.

well.. then would be the perfect time! instead of possibly getting caught in a parking lot driving sideways, or wrecking your shit into a row of shopping carts, or just simply butt-fucking a light pole in the middle of nowhere..(trust me.. you'd think.. Pshhht, its like WAAY over there.. how would it be MY luck to hit that? lol.. trust me, you'll nail it, you're luck)

I promise I won't laugh (hard) at you when u come out to the next event.. lol, jk

Some say you shouldn't get a diff until you can drift with an open... and some say a diff is the first thing you should get, no matter what.

is this just based off opinions or is there some logic to it? Obviously, an open diff will restrict high speed ass-sliding and having a diff won't necessarily mean you can become some tsuchiya right off the back.

The difference between having a diff and not having one is like night and day. I'm an advocate for diff first.

w3rd up. open diff will force you to learn different techniques for initiation and such, but with an LSD you can do all that and then some. even a crappy vlsd like mine will help a lot over trying to slide with an open diff, especially when it comes to the ~65-70mph entries like at turner.
