eh it was more like they had too much interest since they had to turn people away. if they didn't have like 20 stages, playing 20 different kinds of music, taking up WAAAAY too much space they would have had enough room for the cars. But like someone else said it was in the most ghetto area imaginable so IMO good riddance. I was NOT impressed with the show at all this year. It really wasn't a car show for cars, it was a show for advertisers showing off the T-n-A they had pretending that they gave a crap about the products, and some that really made no sense being there in the first place. IE Pepsi? Since when did Pepsi start making car mods? Ya know? I dunno, guess I'm bitter cause some of my friends didn't make it in there.
The biggest problen with HIN Atlanta is that they are very unpreparred. This past year they pre-registered 125 more cars than they had room for. Then while waiting in line, cars were showing up, that were not registered, signing up and going straight in. They were hand picking the cars for the show and gave alot of attitude when the people that preregistered wanting their money back. The only reason that my car club got in is that we camped out all night and blocked all of the entrances so we could make it in.
H.I.N deffinately sucks down south. H.I.N in the NW is like Nopi here.
Where was this "ghetto" part of town everyone is referring to?

Good riddence. H.I.N. was a joke here, the judges, staff, and most HIN affiliates cant honestly admit they EVER gave Atl the same effort as other places. I showed every year, and it was always a circus. The way they did the pre-reg'd people last year PROVES HIN is only out to take your $$.
the best year was probably the first year HIN was here, but it was still messed up
Hot Import Nights has always sucked in Atlanta. After seeing one show in Orlando it kinda made Atlanta look like shit.
When I did my article about HIN. The editor was surprised about the pre-registered cars not getting in and about the number of pre-registered cars that were turned away. He forwarded my story to HIN and they e-mailed me back saying I was full of shit and that my "claim" of almost a hundred cars being turned away was way "over exaggerated"! Unfortunately for them I had the pictures to back up my story and I forwarded them the link to IA to read what was being said about over booking of the event. HIN said at the most 12 cars were left outside! (Oh please). I know tons of peeps and when I showed up with my camera on the back road 30 different people complained to me about the same thing. They just want your money and could give a rat’s ass about the “car culture”. It pissed me off big time because they just don’t want to hear any bad press at all and try to do a better job. They can keep their tour we’ve got plenty of other shows to host. Atlanta Rules!
Exactly!!! Like I said before, my crew had to stay all night to make sure that we got in. I went down the road to see how many cars were left and I personally counted 149. If you ask me, the parking lot was a better show than the actual show. If HIN was to come back to ATL, then I think that we should have our own show in the parking lot. There will be many more cars and the quality would be better.Originally Posted by coolZero
I for one, am very disappointed that HIN is not returning to atlanta this year. you can say what you want but it was still a MAJOR venue for show car enthusiasts. i called and spoke with some of the HIN guys and they said the ONLY reason they are not returning this year was due to low SPECTATOR turnout, not registered car turnout. and yes pepsi doesnt make mods, but its a show vehicle they created to place a foothold in youth market as far as getting more exposure for pepsi. i dunno about u that free pepsi was good!
i guess we can look forward to the DUB show huh?
Agreed. HIN did it to themselves. The first year they were here, they held it in the GA World Congress Center. That show was off da chain!!! Great organization, great participant attendance, and awesome spectator turnout. That was their best show, then the following year, they moved it near the airport, @ the freakin GA Int'l Convention Center. Bad location to get spectators out. Then they hold it again the following year, worst show of all, as ya'll know. If they ever come back, they first need to make it right for all the participants they screwed over, then they need to move the venue back to the GWCC. It could be the best indoor car event again, if they had better organizers.
with tickets being $25 a fucking person they wonder why they didnt have too many spectators....dumbasses
Well, they charge the same $25 a person at other venues, and they're usually packed. Having gone 3 straight years, it's pretty obvious why they left. Nobody was there, I remember the 1st year when the World Congress Center was packed. This time, it was desolate. I've gone to HIN in several other cities, and they are packed. Having talked to some people I know who do the entire HIN schedule, I'm told that Atlanta is the weakest venue followed by Boston.
The airport convention center is a terrible location to have a show, changing venues last minute is stupid, and Atlanta in general isn't a great place for car shows. Other than NOPI, how many big shows do we have? Sure there are always the enthusiasts who turn out in good numbers with their cars, but no one is there to see the show.

The GWCC is where all the big events are held, and they ALWAYS pack them in, no matter what the event. HIN was there the first year, they need to go back to the GWCC, then Atlanta wouldn't be such a weak tour stop. The turnout for the DUBB show was weak too. Where was it held at? The GA Int'l Convention Center. Nuff said.Originally Posted by Evolution Autodesign

One Big Ass Mistake America
I won't miss HIN in ATL due to the fact that they tried to squeeze in every car it was like a normal car show. some care bone stock some car decked out fully. I was pumped after my first expeirnece of HIN and then last year I was so happy when I pre-registered. I was by that back entrance behind the IA booth which was great by the way. I personally wittnessed a ton of cars come throught the back doors that were plain. and the personell that were regulating vehicles comming through there gave one of the HIN tour vehicles a hard time on getting in said there was no room. so I will be attending HIN shows else where hope to see yall there.
last time i talked to the boys at HIN they expressed how ATL was one of the weakest events they do, they aren't coming back b/c they are in search of markets that are working. last year they had to turn cars away, but i think they were hurting on spectators...
venues cost too much, event cost, and lack of support... i hope everyone thinks about this w/ the new season coming up. a good fix for that is to get the clubs/teams back on the map here. push what you do, race/show/drift and make it worth while for people to come back![]()

Paul, you got a good point. However, HIN changed the venue without much heads up. Moving it out of the heart of downtown was a huge marketing error on their part not Atlanta's part as a participant. Not only that but they moved it to a smaller venue! Also timing is very important. One year they had it the same weekend as a Falcon's home game and two other major events. They (HIN) shot themselves in the foot. Also when you turn away over 100 pre registered rides, all of which would have brought all their friends and support groups to check out their rides. People get pissed and don't support the event.Originally Posted by admin
Example: IA's Tuner Shoot Out. Did you guys turn away any cars? No!, and even after the bad weather people still stayed! When you treat people right they come. HIN is just handing out excuses for their own inability to organize well.
The bottom line is IA should have an indoor or outdoor show...
you guys have to remember the cost involved w/ places like the GWCC... to rent that place for a saturday would be a nice down payment on a nice houseeven w/ Pepsi, Xbox, you need alot more $$$ to hold a place down like that.
the future of the event scene is in the hands of the participants, clubs/teams need to get back involved... once that happens promoters we'll see we have something to work w/.
you hit it on the head exactly. we need all the major venues we can get in atlanta. every enthusiasts need to be involved.Originally Posted by admin

They obvisously had the budget the first year and it was sucessful. Also note this past years event was held on the same weekend as graduation, this included colledge as well as high school, having said that I think it answers the question as to where attendance went. Yet another bullet in the foot.
I predicted they wouldn't come back last year, i'm going to guess the same for D1 at Road Atlanta...the turn out for big events seemed to have been horrible the past year and wouldn't doubt it if most promoters are pulling out...Not like anyone cares but i've been dissapointed in most of them...ie nopi this year...over half of the cars had bodykits, accessories, & paint schemes we all used to see on cars back in '96-'98.
It's strange, local meet interest seems to be up while the bigger events are down. JTuned is having a huge meet in a couple weeks in Cali...now if they brought one over here and had a JGTC event at Road Atlanta i'd be willing to bet it would be a crazy sellout.![]()
its no suprise that they won't come back, I think its just that their not organized, i.e. HIN last year.
But off subject, jason, can you help me put on my intake manifold? I don't want to mess with all the sensor and vacuum lines. I have a idea of what to do, but not quite sure.
