Default Dawsonville Moonshine Festival Car Show 10/27/13

While some of the IA media team attended Import Alliance this weekend, some of us had already planned on attending the 2 day moonshine festival in Dawsonville, Ga. For those of you who don't know where that is, imagine going to 'Caffeine and Octane', which is off of exit 11 on Ga-400, passing the exit and then driving another 30 or so miles up into the region where Ga400 becomes a public road and not a freeway. For those of us who are used to rural USA it was just another walk in the park so to speak. For those who aren't, it became rather obvious as soon as we arrived. Coverage was done by DropGearz' David Windsor (myself), Brad & Nicole Cohron, Rick Dailey, and Chris White. All of us did not take pictures, only Chris and I did, the rest of the group got to know the locals and the serious gearheads in attendance at the show.

Some of the rarest and most beautiful classic cars were in attendance, such as a classic 1940's Bugatti Roadster, a few Hudson's, and even a Duisenberg. For those of you born after 1992 you may not know any of what I just said, for those pre 1992, if you don't know then you didn't grow up a gearhead. Local favorites such as FLynn's Auto Detailing were in attendance show casing products and giving away shirts and prizes. The show also featured authentic Moonshine, a swap meet, a memorial to fallen heroes, good food and a lot of Octane fueled by pure Adrenaline. Below are several photos of vehicles spotted at the show, we didn't get to capture as much as we'd liked but we got a lot. More photos will be added later when I get to dump Chris' SD card as well.

This was the 45th annual show, this goes to show that the right crowd can bring along longevity to an event and very high end workman and showmanship. We were pleased to see thousands of people from all walks of life in attendance, and the photos here don't do any justice to what all was there. There is an entire portion of the show we couldn't cover, there was far too much foot traffic, but you can bet that we'll be back next year and we'll most likely attend both days this time. The automotive world stretches far beyond any boundaries, cultures, lifestyles, and tastes. A gearhead can be anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Keep an open mind to the car world and you'll love to see the different styles according to regions and family history. This event shows how "moonshiners" built their hotrods and kept them immaculate and passed them onto their descendants. Something that sadly most people today do not understand.
