Default Article: VINTAGE CLASS Oldschool Car Meet - Third Sunday of Each Month

    Hey fellas..

This is Amir from Garage Zero, the Streetfighters c.c., and Burn Unit crew..

Some of yall know me on here and some dont.. im the guy with the LS7 67 Camaro.

    Anyways.. Ive been thinking.

I have for the last few months seeing a slight growth of oldschool rides here in Atlanta and the surrounding areas.. and it seemed to me that Oldschool ride folks really want to kick it with other old ride guys.. even if its just some lets meet up on Sunday shit.
    but they cant find eachother..

Us at GarageZero have kindof been the oasis for oldschools here for a while and what normally happens is that folks ride by the shop on a Saturday or Sunday and see if we are around.. but lately the shop has been closed and usually John is doing family stuff then.. but the rest of us( Mainly the Burn Unit crew ) still are down to meet up!.. even just to kick it lightly..

    so..
im not talking about a BBQ everytime we meet..
im not talking about a car show everytime we meet..
im not talking about pressure everytime we meet..

just a plain old OLD SCHOOL Monthly Meetup that I want to throw together.. don't call up John if you have his number asking about this, I am putting this out there on my own.. seeing that the need is there for us.. we need to unite! John will catch up later..

now.. i know your asking.. hey Amir.. where at?!

If some of you guys know where Garage Zero is then you know very close where i'm talmbout.

Im thinking to have it at:
Liane Levetan Park at Brook Run

    4770 N. Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA, 30338

its pretty much right smack dab in the middle of us all i think.. close to the northside guys, and close to the southside guys.. and more importantly in an area that is pretty much a strait shot from the highway(good airflow for an oldschool cooling deficiencies.) and no traffic in the area to worry about overheating your oldschool.. one shot.. your there.

    now.. heres the OTHER thing..
I dont have permission to make a big meet there.. so it would have to be some "oh hi, I just saw these guys on the highway and told them to stop so I could check out their car Mr.Authority"

sides.. I dont think it will be that big to where it will even cause enough of a stir.

    so the question is..

Are you guys down to help me do this?.. get the word out to all the Oldies out there in ATL and the surrounding who want to have our own thing?

Either way.. I go there to skateboard so even if there isnt a good turnout and you ride boards theres something to do!
the skatepark that happens to be RIGHT NEXT to where we would be parking..

so heres the stipulation for this..

OLDSCHOOL.. and ONLY OLDSCHOOL can park together.
from the years 1910 to 1989.. i dont care if its a horse and carriage.
AMERICAN, JAPANESE, GERMAN, AFRICAN, PERUVIAN.. whatever.
Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Bmw, Benz, VW, Audi.. whatever..

This is all about CLASS.. not swag so no nonsense, we are going to keep this kinda incognito.. so keep the hooning, drifting, and burnouts out.. but if you have an oldie you already know this.. if not we might make you know it.
and leave your beefs at home, beef is only good for the burger business.. lets hang and enjoy the fact that Oldschools take REAL HEART to build.. and build is the keyword here.

    When?

How about [b]the 3rd Sunday or Saturday of the month?[b].. hows that sound?
    starting next month!

    where again?
Liane Levetan Park at Brook Run

    4770 N. Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA, 30338

for any questions email me through my site:
    The Street Fighters

I hope this can take off.. please pass this around so all the oldguys know cause Ive been seeing them out and i know

    peace.

    Amir.
    Mr.Vengeance

and a couple of us GarageZeroes and BurnUnits..and some know how we get down..

come and join us!.. come by and hang!

I'll get the word out. This is old school cars across the board, right? Any make and any model within the specified years? If so, I was just thinking that this might just be a great idea as far as meets go.

I just saw that the shiop doesn't open on Saturdays anymore? The one day I get a chance to try to swing by (tomorrow), and the shop'll be closed....damn, lolol.

    @QD

yea man the thing is that I just want to push anything thats old.. even 89 might be pushing it but I am not entirely sure what years to cut it off at.. all i know is that when they all pull in, if an 94 mazda came up i would have it park away from the group.. you can kick it and enjoy but in case of a dope photo op that would be the weak link.. so it would have to go..

as far as the makes.. as long as its any one of THESE.. 1910 to 1989 im with it.

    Acura
    Audi (USA)
    BMW of North America
    Buick
    Cadillac
    Chevrolet
    Chrysler
    Dodge
    Eagle
    Ferrari
    Ford
    General Motors Corp.
    Global Electric Motorcars, LLC
    GMC
    Honda
    Hummer
    Hyundai
    Infiniti
    Isuzu
    Jaguar (USA)
    Jeep
    Kia Motors America
    Lamborghini
    Land Rover of North America
    Lexus
    Lincoln
    Lotus
    Mazda (USA)
    Mercedes-Benz (USA)
    Mercury
    Mitsubishi Motors USA
    Nissan USA
    Oldsmobile
    Peugeot
    Pontiac
    Porsche (USA)
    Regal (Buick)
    Saab
    Saturn
    Subaru
    Suzuki
    Toyota (USA)
    Volkswagen of America, Inc.
    Volvo of North America
    etc...

i just like the idea of an old Volvo next to a TE27, next to a 69 Camaro, next to a RX3, next to a old prelude, next to a etc..

that is the point.. to see the attraction and respect the old class of ALL car makes.. and to form a support group for our LOVE/HATE of rust.

I dont care if your car is a fadmobile with pokey wheels, a DC shoe drift idiot, a slammed plaid ductaped parts getter.. whatever!.. just come through and hang.

and yea for the time being the shop will be closed on weekends indefinitely.. thats why im putting this together..

I WAS WONDERING WHAT A GOOD TIME FOR THIS WOULD BE... either in the morning time 11 or 12 or afternoon time.. like 4 or 6?

    and @ATLien..

you didnt know I was a big car guy?.. just a paint slinger?

We were planning an old school meet next month at shorty howell park and a lot of my old school buddies were riding out to gwinnett,

We literally just "finalized" plans yesterday for Sunday Oct 21 @ 11am. Ideally I would have preferred a smaller one, so people don't act like strangers like they do in the big ones. I'm sure they wouldn't mind consolidating it, or we can do both and have the northside ones more often and everyone from all over can come out to the big monthly one, maybe the sunday after C&O every month?

I think Sunday around 11AM is a good time, because the parks will be empty as I think the church crowd is probably heavy in the park-going families crowd. But then again this could exclude someone who may really want to come and make them choose between church and cars lol.

yea Hasan the big reason why the Brook run park was my first choice was that its centralized.. most of my Southside people dont like coming all the way to the Northside and the Northsiders dont want to come too far South.

so this park is 3 exits off of Spaghetti junction going west and very comfortable to get to.. right off the exit .5 mile, then a left into the park, and there is 1 stoplight to go through, plus the road you dont have to worry if your car is slammed!, no speedbumps.. cant beat it.

I like shortyhowell but its kindof a pain in the ass even just IN the park, then going through Pleasant Hill isnt too pleasant to most Oldies..

this one seems like a comfortable medium if it works out..

The big thing is that I want people to feel welcomed to something like this, and you hit the nail on the head about since its smaller they wont feel as alienated.. and like most oldschoolers we like other oldies and can talk in great lengths even if the cars make is a rival to our own.. cant say the same thing everywhere else.

cause I can tell you from MY personal view is that I DONT GO TO SHOWS/MEETS because of the pretentious attitudes that "fanboys" tend to have when I go there.. I just want to roll into a spot with cars I personally dig(old) and talk to guys with similar views on em.. taste is subjective.. like I didnt agree with some modifications of the Cressidas in the Pics section.. BUT.. do I hate them?.. HELL NO..

I sure as hell want them to COME THROUGH!

hell I drive an slammed 86 cressida wagon to work!.. why wouldnt I like theirs?

like whats not to like on a lineup like this?

and then make that a regular thing?

    psssh...

so yea, lets pool together something.. I think we all can make something cool for ATL..

cause I have LOVE for ATL... wink!

That's how Dave Wilson, John and I did the OSJC meets. If it wasn't an OSJC, then you could still come through, but there were sections for those cars to chill. I'm definitely hype over this, man.

As for time, like Hasan said, morning time would probably be best. Eleven sounds good, maybe even ten, although that might be pushing it too early.

shit.. matter of fact I was thinking.. and its SUPER short notice

but ANYONE WANNA MEET UP TOMORROW?

    same spot, 11 am?

reason is I was thinking It might be cold by the time the first meet.. I want to enjoy some of this nice weather..

either way, us Burn Units will meet up tomorrow at 11am just to go and get coffee and skateboard at the spot.. so there wont be like 2 cars or anything.. come through.

I mean realistically what time would YOUNG AND OLD be up on a Saturday or Sunday?

hell im not even sure of which would be better.. would folks want their Sat to themselves and wouldnt want to go to a quick meet?
or would they rather a Sunday midday thingy.. which I am a later riser myself..

If its like Saturday then like maybe a more of a 12-1pm thing?

and a Sunday like a 1-3pm type thing is better?

    what yall tink?

    interesting!.. not bad kid!

I tend to not talk about Graffiti in car circles because I really do the car thing to escape that.. I know cars have their politics and everything also but I just enjoy the camaraderie in this game.. its different.

so im trying to focus what I enjoy most in this game.. the oldschool.

Man.. for a last minute call up my oldschool friends this was an AWESOME meetup..

It was all about QUALITY rather than quantity at this one.

we got together and decided to name this meet

    "Vintage Class"

A more mature name for classics we thought.. the name doesnt evoke a cocked brim retard that says "swag" all the time approach.

    I think its great.

anyways heres my shitty camera phone pics of the quick Vintage Class meet.

    1969 Lemans also..

    RX7 with a built Ford 302 V8

    super clean AE86

    1983 TE72 Wagon with a 4AGZE

Of course yall know my 77 Celica Liftback"Payback"

510 with a KA.. fresh from the autocross.. literally.

    1972 S30 with a tripple webbered L28

R31 Skyline 4door with an RB series motor.

    ahahha.. square eyes clique.

    a 1973 S30 with a Turbo L series.

and seriously the cleanest ride there.. MINT.. and i do mean MINT 510 Wagon.
my crappy phone pics DONT DO THIS CAR JUSTICE.. half of us wanted to sell ours and buy it off homie.. ahaha

so to the rest of yall..

come out to the next one!!!!

Dang!!! Didn't even know this was going on until just now.

I'll be at the next one hopefully. Only an hour drive from me. Pretty comfy in my little truck too.

Just need to get flares, paint, and a few other things and I'll be able to keep up with the gorgeous stuff you guys are in.

Wish I had gone to this instead of NOPINats but live and learn, may be able to make it in Oct or Nov.

Depending on who you're trying to get to show up, you might consider posting this on some British websites. I saw 8-10 Triumphs and MGs at the Air Force museum down here on Saturday so they are out there and willing to travel.

My 92 is too new, and my 64 is too far away to drive up.... otherwise, it sounds like a good meet....
