I wish i was ready for this.. but unfourtunatly i take turns still like a 10 y/o girl... im ganna sign up in a performence driving school to learn how to drive my car right

ready for what? you don't know how to drive your own pace? or are you afraid you won't win the imaginary race to the end of the rainbow and the pot-o-gold?

you don't have to go to a driving school to hit the mountains. do you think all of the people that live up there needed a special driving school to get to/from their houses on a daily basis? did all the leaf lookers take a driving school to be able to get up and down 129 without dying? not trying to bash you here (consider it a motivational speech), but if you want to learn to drive your car you need to get out and drive your car, not make excuses everytime something comes up that involves something other than sitting in a parking lot and taking pictures or cruising around to meets. a performance driving school isn't going to help you in the mountains any more than you making excuses not to go. your car is a car, just like every person going on this run YOU control your right foot and your steering wheel. nobody says you have to go fast, and nobody is going to hound you because you go slow. you choose how you drive, whether you want to push it or just cruise through and enjoy the scenery. you know how to press the pedals, you know how to turn the steering wheel, so what special skills other than those does it take to navigate some turns in the mountains?

Ive only had my car for a month.. i still havnt gotten used to the power... going from 90 to 340 is a huge difference... Yes i know to learn how to really drive it i need to drive it.. but I have seen too many people get behind the wheel of a higher hp car and end up wrecking it.. I will be damned it i do that

your car doesn't make 340hp at partial throttle does it?

let me generalize this for everyone:
by all means i don't want to see anyone wreck, but please don't try to make it seem as though the mountains are some super treacherous place to go for a spin because hundreds of people commute over these same roads and don't seem to have a problem with them. if you suddenly decide you're Colin McRae then you'll find yourself in trouble, but if you have enough brains to stay at a speed you feel comfortable with (speed limit is 35 on 99% of the roads, a monkey could drive these roads at the speed limit) and not break into the fast and furious "i gotta show that guy who's boss" attitude then you won't ever find yourself in a sticky situation. again, i encourage anyone that has self control to hit the mountains because it's great fun to spend a day up there and when you add the cookout and such it's even better. if you like to drive slow and check out the scenery, so be it. if you like to open it up a little, keep your wits about you and it's fun. if you like to try and show that you are somehow superior by trying to keep up with people or make stupid passes like you're going for a trophy, take your ass somewhere else.

I guess i misunderstood the whole mt run thing I didnt realize it was a whole.. go at your own pace.. sort of thing.. I thought it was something different.. I may come after all

some will run fast, others will cruise slow. ask ole Buford his max speed on the runs he's been on

. he's a prime example, he moves how fast he wants to move and doesn't let others decide that for him.

You drive at what pace you are comfortable with...mike, john w., erin, and I plus several others can run a faster pace then most people and still not leave imprints on the steering wheel or even sweaty hands by the time we reach the top...we also know every single turn like it's our own driveway. (yeah, john...it IS your freakin driveway

i dunno, i offered them money and labor to git-r-did but they said there was no way they would be able to do it. oh well, better that i didn't take fresh paint on a run anyways and the fade on stock brakes suck. I've always wanted to do just ONE run where all i did was film from cars and the side of the road...and sense we'll have a great turnout and have several people on here with remarkable editing skills this will be a good time to do it. Heyy, even i can think positive sometimes

But don't worry, as long as the fuel prices stay relatively where it is now i'll be up there nearly every weekend for while...

i hope the weather is the same tomorrow as it was today.. i went up for several hours and gave my new dunlops hell. there was little traffic and a nice day overall! have fun tomorrow guys and dont be stupid, lol

Well, car is somewhat ready. The guy is still trying to fix my hood (he hasn't started it yet but says it will be done tonight...if not, I'll just put it back on because I don't feel like riding w/o a hood!).

I'm going to pick up the cups and plates tonight. I'm not going to be able to get the chips and dip so if someone else could pick that up, I'd appreciate it!
