dont know if this really pertains or not to the topic, but Hypnotoad's dad is supposed to be a bid dog at kauffman tire and he is supposed to be talking to him about helping out and trying to support the "event". dont know if it will happen but at least there is the possibility of a few more $$$ to help out.but im down to come eitherway it turns out.

If the show is just about dragracing, it will fail.
If the show is atlanta-centric, it will fail.
If the show is import-centric, it will fail.

    Think bigger guys.

It needs to be a lifestyle festival. Cars and racing are just part of the equation. Big music acts, skateboarding, freestyleMX, muscle cars, imports, exotics, sportbikes. That can get a bigger audience and broader range of sponsors = more fun.

Have you ever been to a ImportShowdown?? Every event was big, over 1000 spectators 150 plus racers.

The NC boys and I are interested we were going to hook up with the EvoAtlanta guys and have a meet and go to NOPI and do an Evo Section. Keep me posted so I can tell the crew in NC, we were looking forward to it.

Sweet man, that's awesome! Yeah, the show is definitely, officially happening.... but the details are still being worked out (unless somebody's got some new info). AMS is having an internal meeting tomorrow (Tues) to discuss these details... so hopefully we will hear something by mid-week. We are trying to gently press them to get the details soooon, so we can all get going and get amped about it. 60 days is not a lot of time, energy and passion is high right now... and this thing needs to spread like wild-fire. Definitely need to rally support from other states. So anyone you can pass it on to - that would be awesome!!! If they already heard about it... f**k it... tell 'em again in your own words. lol.
I don't think there's a name for the event yet, I guess thats AMS's choice. I personally thought "Call To Arms" would be cool (or something along those lines)... because ultimately, that's what this show needs to be. I'm sure they are open to suggestions if you've got something.

    Actually:
IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR THE EVENT... PUT 'EM HERE AND WE'LL PASS IT ALONG TO AMS. (Or get AMS following this thread.) Also, any suggestions and/or connections to make those ideas actually come to life... would be cool and helpful.

Yeah... but definitely tell your buddies outside of ATL not to cancel their hotel rooms just yet. :boobies:

I think if we are making this "our own" event then why not have muscle cars. That would bring people in like Year One. I'm willing to make some calls if thats a path we are willing to travel down. Honestly I've always loved NOPI, but the lack of old skool whether it be american made or import really sucked. I think it should be a congregation of everyone.

I am really excited about what I am hearing here. I think this is a great chance to show the strength and excitement of the south east car culture. It is also a golden opportunity to bring the "super show" into the 2000's. I will do all I can to help make this a success.

I'd be down for that I was actually trying to work up something on evom for Saturday night. I'm hoping all the people that organized meets will catch on to this and still come.

Just outta curiousity, I keep seeing "AMS," which AMS is it? Are we talking the Auto Moto Sports (turbo gurus out of Chicago) or Atlantic Motorsports? If the Chicago folks, where will this be held? In Chicago or in Atlanta? Just curious......

When someone says AMS to me I am NOT thinking of Atlanta Motor Speedway, haha. Maybe I will now add that to my rolodex. Haha, my bad. I guess it's because I spend more time in third world countries than in the States......My bad....

With the help of Import Atlanta, we have had as many as 3k spectators at our Drift Fury event at Turner Field. In the grand sceme, it's not that much...but it just goes to show that we had tiny events at a whack location and we turned it out!!!! It can happen again.

Car Club people, let me know if you are trying to come and I will see if they are planning club spots like they usually do for NOPI.

Everyone keep spreading the word on the other forums that this is going to happen so we don't lose interest.

You should go ahead and start posting a "heads up" type thread so that people don't make alternate plans/cancel their reservations, especially if they're from out of town.

This is what I am posting on the other forums for now.

Even though NOPI has cancelled their biggest event of the past 20 years, AMS is still going to have it. They will be hosting it themselves with the help of the locals. You can still look forward to drifting, car show, drag racing and array of other activities. Specifics are being discussed and will be released shortly. Please keep your calendar empty for the 3rd weekend in Sept. as usual! I will post more when the details become available. Please keep in mind this was a shock to the venue and your patience is appreciated while they sort out the details.

If you have any suggestion on sponsors (or want to sponsor the event) or type of things you would like to see incorporated into the event or if you would like to volunteer to work the event, let me know and I will pass along the information. Also media can contact me for now and I will see how we are to handle that. I can be reached at [email protected]

Car Club people, let me know if you are trying to come and I will see if they are planning club spots like they usually do for NOPI.

LONG STORY SHORT: EVEN THOUGH NOPI CANCELED, AMS IS STILL HAVING AN EVENT THAT WEEKEND.

thats b/c of the names involved. when you get people in the scene involved who are in it for the scene good things happen - opportunist normally burn the scene for what they can get.

I agree. That's why I said with the help of Import Atlanta...HOLLER!!!!!!! :boobies:

    NOPI...booooo!

AMS is doing a pretty good job of working with people that they have already worked with and have been successful in the past (from what I can tell). So hopefully it will be a good event.

About the muscle cars, I think we are all in agreement that this event should include as many motor operated vehicles as possible (imports, domestics, motorcycles, scooters, smart cars...whatever). I know I don't discriminate. A cool car is a cool car in my eyes
