I honestly think we should give Year One a try. It's a big parking lot, and I'm pretty sure the manager would be open to the idea. Since it'd be October it will have cooled down somewhat.
I just foresee parking as an issue at Ft. Yargo meets. Especially if this gains more and more momentum and gets larger.
Also, since Y1 has a large parking lot, I wonder what it would take to hold a small autocross? ( they've held them there before )
... and I think you meant October 4th, NOT August 4th.
Also, I'm thinking since SQC's fall meet got cancelled due to no Fall Import Showdown, I might try to make this an SQC fall get together.
We just need more parking :ninja:
i dunno about year one. yes they have lots of parking but come on, those guys are kind of head in their ass hot rod people. they dont respect our imports in the first place let alone the old school of them.
You never know unless you ask. Later, QD.Quote:

I wish yall could do this on a weekday. :(
The only problem with Year one to me is it is just a large parking lot out in the sun. I think somewhere with some trees and a place to grill out and spend some time with people that care for these cars. I think Ft Yargo could fit the bill if we arrange to have the picnic pavilloin. Parking would then go all the way around the corner, and maybe go ahead and rent the two campsites up near the playground. At this point we could use some volunteers to try and help park cars, and we could put up some signage for spectating parking and signage for the O/S cars. We would have a whole lot of additional parking with a little bit of organization. ***Oh Yeah, October the 4th is Petit Lemans at Road Atlanta...Probably not the best date for our show....Would September 27 be too soon, or October 25...Chime in about the dates. If it matters to you.
Bring pop up tent covers and grills :D
Don't get me wrong, I like Ft. Yargo as well, but I just think that the venue is somewhat small ( even if we get a pavilion ) but those you have to RSVP for, and then hope the count is accurate. I sort of felt like I was invading other people's time there since we parked amongst a bunch of other parked cars that were just there with their families ( and were also passing through ). Why not hit up Lake Lanier again?
http://lanier.sam.usace.army.mil/she...nformation.htm
You got picnic areas/pavilions in multiple areas, and looking at the maps there's lots of parking :bump:
That way you wont have to also change dates since we won't be anywhere near the Petit LeMans either.
In fact, some place like Thompson Creek would be cool ( though it seems to be on the 400 side of Lanier )
I'm with you for some of the parks on Lake Lanier, But I've heard people fussing about the drive to Lake Lanier. I don't think it's any further from Atlanta, to some of the lake parks, but for Athens area and Conyers It's like 25 or 30 morre miles. I'm down for Lake Lanier, I live closer to Lake Lanier than to Ft. Yargo. Any suggestions out there?
Regarding Petit Lemans, I wasn't worried about being near the Petit venue, I was worried about losing people like me to the race. I'm going to Petit Lemans. It's an awesome race, and an awesome party....No meet during Petit! Unless it is at Road Atlanta.
Dave,
Remember me telling you about a big church on Hwy 78 in snellville? They had a car show there awhile back. Big new paved parking! Just a thought.
25 to 30 miles is nothing. Those people can suck it up. Twice a year I drive 130 miles one way to a small meet, that usually involves an additional 30 miles of driving together before driving all that mileage back. I can understand trying to be a convenience to everyone, but that just won't happen. You have meets where people travel farther than 30 miles just for an afternoon.
http://lanier.sam.usace.army.mil/ParkRecreationMap.htm
Map has locations of all park areas.
yeah people can suck it up, it's worth it for a properly organized meet. I drove over 100 miles each way for Saturday's meet without an O/S car to show haha, I know we can keep numbers wherever we go :)Quote:

^^ I say places like 12, 15, and 83 are good places to check out. 12 and 15 are more off of 985 and 83 is across from where we had the first one ( but has a huge parking lot, didn't see anything about shelters/grill though )
Also I say keep it in October. Cooler weather and time to plan. Why not the weekend after the Petit?
I'm good for October and the drive up there Saturday I'll be in the purple 71 got to get some miles on the fresh beast hit me up Dave and let me know
