Insert random Pioneer Japanese music here? LOL
Anyone have a high flow cat for sale that's 2.5"?
Had my first full sale today at work :)
I'm so happy about it.
Well Steve P's Explorer has a bad head gasket, Steve R's Civic was annialated by a deer, and now my CRV has a concerning suspension related issue...one by one all our DD's are dying lol.
The odd thing is that the Subaru's will be back on the road very soon and will have to repair our DD's. haha. What's going on with the CRV?
Looks like you need to get that ass back in the garage and start wrenching on the wagon. You have now been banned from the computer until it's finished.
I think it's funny how your dad has insisted on just replacing it :D
Your property is going to turn into a salvage yard with all these parts cars.
lol I'll be working on it today and this weekend. Hopefully it'll start up sunday.
Dad mentioned taking the AK to it... It has too much sentimental value:( its been good to me every time I needed it wether I was missing a motor in the prelude, driving it after the Prelude was stolen or in the last 13 months while the wagon has remained stationary....
Watch what you say! My car is my DD and the only car I have! *knocks on wood*
Day time picture of my gauges! :D

I must see these gauges with my own eyes :leghump:
On an unrelated note, Mobil 1 is on promo for 5qt jug + filter for $32.99....snatch it up before the promo is gone for nearly half a year like usual.
Hey quit yalls bitching, you could have sold your dd without any clear back up car in sight!

I know where you can find a blue WRX...
Just because you keep popping motors doesn't mean there's anything wrong with Mobil 1...there's an Italian that seems to be the common factor, not the motor oil.
funny u mention that. only ONE motor died with mobile1 in it out of the 7-8 motors dad and i have killed. oddly enough, the ONE motor would likely have been fine with rotella in the crankcase... Subaru and mobile 1 do not mix. subarus and 5-30 do not mix. subaru + 5-30 + mobile1= disaster...
my original statement stands: fuck mobile1
(*disclamer: im not saying i would never use it again in another application, it just wouldnt be my first choice...)
I think there's something else at play with that one Steve....I just spent a few minutes searching the Scoobie forums and it's a split; half these people swear up and down that 5w-30 (especially M1) is the devil, while the other half have been using it for the life of their cars and with no issue whatsoever. And 5w-30 seems to be what's factory recommended for your cars :dunno:
Now we all know Subaru is no Honda (in more ways than one), but I severely doubt they would be recommending a viscosity that was detrimental to their motors.
Guido - There is nothing you can do to prove that another oil brand would have saved that engine. My issue I see with this whole M1 debate on NASIOC is the fact that one doofus posts up typing like he knows his shit and then he finds himself to be king. Everyone that reads his posts believes every bit and the rumors begin to spread. There are numerous people on that board running M1 (they're the original owners) and have yet to experience any sort of issue. I'll have to find the thread but someone (for shits and giggles) performed an oil change using the cheapest shit at Wallyworld being filtrated by an OEM filter. He had Blackstone perform an analysis after driving for ~5k miles on said oil and guess what? It came back perfectly fine. I used M1 in my S2000 and Evo. Zero issues.
Daniel - The viscosity of the oil varies per engine and the tolerances that engine was built to. At the end of the day, what you need to focus on is oil pressure and temp.
FWIW, I use Rotella T6 with a Purolator filter in both the Subaru and Miata. For those that may be lacking the knowledge of oil, I recommend you read through this during your next pooping interval.

....oh and, the Subaru is finally back up and running. I adjusted the ride height, performed an alignment and drove her home tonight for the first time in months. Going to make sure there are no leaks or loose fitting before having it tuned.
Glad you made it home Steve!
When's the tune Steve?
For anybody who cares, got some pictures up on canibeat. http://www.canibeat.com/2012/02/auto...al-coverage/9/
Thanks. No issues were found during the commute which is good. :goodjob:
Within the next couple weekends when I have a chance. I want to make sure everything is in 100% working order before making the commute up. Don't want to waste mine nor the tuners time.
I notice depending on where your photos end up determines if you watermark as Corbin or Ethan. Any particular reason why?
Nice pictures Corbin!
Ah. I see his name around your photos a lot so I thought you might of had a double life or something, lol.
i agree and disagree. i had blackstone labs look at my oil the oil change before my motor popped, and it wasnt great. i pressure vs temperature vs tolerances do seem to be key. the issue with mobile one is it seems to thin out way too much in our cars to be safe. either way, i like my 5-40 rotella and oem filter:)
daniel: look further, say in the owners manual, and you will see that a 40 weight oil is recommended for more "severe" conditions.
FWIW
MY dually: 201K miles (many towing), mobil 1 since new, every 3k, never had one failure of any kind
My Silver Car: mobil 1 since new, every 3500, had the common BMW OFH leak, thats it. Car sees 1200 HARD/FAST miles per week.
My old 1994 SE-R ITS Car: Was SSB race car beginning at 12miles (not 12k, 12 miles), was raced in SSB 3 years, converted to ITS car at 2000 miles. I ran 50+ ITS races in it, instructed in it for 4 years, and DD'd the car until 85K miles. Never had one engine failure of any kind, Mobil 1 since new.
My DSM and M3 Run oil not produced by Mobil 10w60 and 20w50. They had failures, not necessarily related to oil, but inherrant design flaws. STi gets Royal Purple every 3K, but has only 14K miles so far.
