So, technically, they have 4 cylinders per exhaust pipe.

How come it sounds so great (V8-like) instead of inline-4 x2? (since thats what it actually is...two inline 4's)

Theres a cross pipe that connects the two exhaust pipes, after the cats but before the mufflers.
Ex. X pipe, H Pipe ect.
V8s also fire every 90* 4s every 180*
