thats good that he is a national champion but I don't think that gives him special permission to drive a track car on the street. It may be street legal and all but the way he flew into the parking spot was stupid and he came close to hitting cars. it would have been fine if he put regular street tires on the car and not rode on hoosier slicks.

nice car and I would love to see it run on a track, but don't endanger peoples lives and cars to show off your driving skill.

So you are giving the finger b/c I posted some pics.... I think I wasnt hating at all, but if you think I did you are a fool...

PMO I thought it was badass to see a bimmer if that caliber at the V meet.. that is why I took pics of it.

I talked to J. Lingerfelt for a minute and he was nice to me, and too all the stupid people asking stupid questions about his car. I thought he was radical/crazy, at was going to ask him if he wanted to get on it VS. my car but I figure he couldnt be that crazy... But if he is and he doesnt care we can meet up for a couple of freeway pulls and make a awesome video.

I've drive my track car on the streets before and I think is the safest car in on the streets.. why coz is light and can go around cars at 100mph like I was doing 40mph... If some fool get on my way I will outbrake any street car out there... Tires will warmup after a while so no big deal so will your brakes....

The only bad thing will be the slicks if it rains but you can always pull over and chill while the rain goes away...

I saw him pulling in and it looked ok to me, maybe is matter of personal opinion....

No offense to you because I don't remember actually meeting you in person...

BUT... That would take what he did to another level of stupidity. First off he drives a race car that can barely navigate the streets, he has to power slide into parking spaces and now you want to challenge him to a couple of highway pulls?

So have I, however I can't remember the last time I got over 80mph on any highway. After a couple track days I just can't find the point or the excitement in speeding around on surface streets.

Stupidity or your ignorance.... dont take it personal.

There are many road courses around the world that are streets in a close city, or a close airport. Witch none of those are flat and smoth like RA. A goog driver knows that there are different grips in different areas of a track so driving in the interestate is a piece of cake... Some day you will understand this.

Not a challange more of having fun with our toys....

You sir will be lap whenever you get to do some wheel to wheel racing... ppl like us can not get rip of the need for going fast with a race weekend... after a race weekend I could go for some st racing but I have to calm down and do it some other time....

Going fast in the city is awesome, but you have to know what you are doing, a couple of driving schools will not get you ready for it... If I have to compare it to anything it will be with Rally, if you ever do rally you will know what I mean. Not knowing what turn is coming or what line to take.. pure adrenaline nothing less.

Those "road courses" aren't run with pedestrians and other public vehicles on the road. There are no families in minivans and elderly drivers. Last time I watched Monte Carlo Grand Prix the only cars on the road were F1 cars and the safety car came out twice.

I know there are different levels of grip, I know that ambient temperature and road surface can modify grip levels. However a race driver does not have to worry about other drivers accidentally merging into their lane. They don't have to worry about pedestrians in cross walks. I don't understand what I am going to have to understand though?

Why will I be lapped? Because I understand the different between a race track or closed circuit event and driving to work? I do have the need but I value the safety of myself and those around me. I don't feel the need to blast down GA400 in excess of 100 MPH, it holds no value to me. You can knock my driving skill or say that I don't understand. I love my toys but I use them where appropriate, I prefer to be in the safest environment as possible. I just don't feel the need to endanger myself and others so I can weave in and out of traffic.

Here is the thing with Rally. While many of their courses also use public roads they are closed. Much like a road course running on public roads, they close the roads they will be running through. They do have to worry about spectators throwing rocks or animals in the middle of the road but they don't go blasting through downtown Leon on a Thursday afternoon.

We obviously have two different takes on the issue so we can leave it at that.

Monte carlo is not the only city course but that is pass the point... the point was that you said it was a bad idea to take a race car in to the streets.... my couter point is that race cars are made to handle speeds that a minivan will never see. Just the harness of a race car will give the advantage by 40% to a street car... Point was race car on the streets way safer than runing around in your almost stock M3 with the boom box on the trunk.

The different grips senario was to go a bit deeper into why a race car with a race car driver is more safe that your soccer mom's minivan... totally miss the point here. But is ok I understand....

Now driving at 100mph in GA-400 at 5:30pm is nuts, or a death wish. Driving GA-400 at 11:30 at 100mph you will be passing car but by a 20mph difference.... driving in public roads inyour senario w/the soccer mom's and the grandpas only a retarded will think of that...

There is a difference between crazy and stupid.... I might be crazy but you senarios are just plain stupid... Let's just leave it a that...

    Back on topic.

Well now you have resorted to name calling. You seem perfectly able to put others at risk for your enjoyment. That is your choice.

There is a difference between a "track car" and a "race car". That guy brought a race car to a Varsity meet. He couldn't even navigate a parking lot because of the lock up of his diff. Driving down there in an e36 M3 with a Kirk 4 point bolt in would be no problem in my eyes.

    I'm out.

Name calling... you called his endevor to the V meet an stupidity.... then you wrote that "enjoying our toys" idea by me was another level of stupidity thus calling us stupid.... so the only difference between you coments and mine is that I didn't take it like a girl.

If he was doing a doggy and loosing traction is a no biggy to me... my "track car" has my personal built diff and does it all the time, nothing that a softer spring w/a helper spring can fix. Although if he has a dual adjustable dampers reducing the bound pressure will fix that too...

I'll say maybe he had the car set-up for a smoth track..

    Default Julians car

Alright guys. Ive watched you argue about Julian driving his car downtown. I drove downtown with Julian that night and he never went faster than 75, with all the other traffic. He wanted to bring the car out to show some kids that might never get the chance too see a real race car. He is one of the safest and conscious drivers Ive driven with. Never mind the fact that that car will out-brake and out-manuever any car on the road, making his probably the safest car on the road that night. We checked the weather before we had left to make sure it wasnt going to rain before we left because he wanted to make sure the car would be SAFE. All im going to say is dont assume you know whats going through someones mind when they decide to bring the car that they built with thier money. He was trying to show ya'll something you might not see anywhere else.
