and that is why teams/confrences like USC are affraid or don't want a PLAYOFF system.

yeah, Cal. and Oregon St. woopie doo!

to many teams are gonna get screwed b/c of this BCS bullshit and others are getting clout that they don't deserve or earned(depending on how you see it) either they haven't played anybody(other than the knobs in their own confrence) or haven't been able to prove their worth by playing real contenders.
USC is going to play Ohio St. unless UCLA pulls 1 out of their ass(hey Texas Tech did it) meanwhile Boise St(not that I'm a fan) hasn't lost to anyone, Wisconson has 1 lose to a much better team than Oregon St. and the same goes for Flordia(as much as I Hate Flordia), and Lousiville let them prove something other than their better than W.Virgina...well S. Flordia Community College and tire sevice is to but so what.

give me 2 reasons why the BCS is better than a playoff sys?(any ninny can come up with 1)

first off, it's oregon, not oregon state. secondly, more than just those 3 teams have shown flashes of brilliance this season in the pac10 (ucla, washington and washington state have all had their moments).

every yr, one team or another will get "screwed", but the important thing is to have the least amount of teams get screwed. with that said, the bcs is (unfortunately), the best thing for college football. there is NO PERFECT SYSTEM that can be used YEAR AFTER YEAR. based on what you're saying, every yr maybe we should let a different number of teams from the same conference have a shot at competing for the national championship? like maybe the big10 or sec has a great yr and has 3 teams all worthy of it, that shit just won't work and someone will always be pissed at the end of the day.

2 reasons why bcs is better than a playoff? well one, the obvious, is that the regular conf will no longer mean shit to anyone. two, i personally believe it's unfair to ask student athletes, especially around the holidays and finals time, to play 2 or 3 or however many more games to determine a national championship. as much as we love the sport, the ncaa reminds everyone constantly that college sports is NOT the pros, the kids are there to get an education first.

the confrences won't matter? do they now?

"Despite losing its final game of the year and failing to win its conference, the BCS still leaves Michigan with the potential to play for a mythical national championship. So much for that argument about the BCS protecting the importance of regular season games."

ya know I've got a friend(yes, I have GT friends. although I would never Fully trust them :P )that has had classes with GT football players and he said, "I can't believe this dummy got into here b/c he can play ball and I had to bust my ass in class!" if you really believe people like Calvin Johnson are concerned about an education or missing classes(not like the Univ. wouldn't make an exception for them) and finals I can't help you. sure academics might mean something to the field hockey players or the water polo team. but the 6'6 350lbs Bubba Jones don't give 2 shits about his recretional managment degree

but look at the facts, the fact is, michigan will not be playing in the national championship, am i right or wrong? and you know what, i think the bcs actually worked this year. even if michigan DID go to the national championship to rematch against ohio state, are you honestly telling me you don't believe them to be AT LEAST on par with the 2nd best team in the nation (USC)? if so you must've either 1) not watched the osu/michigan game or 2) are just plain retarded.

i know damn well a LOT of players get help, and a lot of them aren't there to get a degree. but are you trying to tell me now that THE MAJORITY of college athletes aren't there to get an education? i don't give a shit what bubba jones is there for, if he is truly in the top percentile of athletes that have a future in sports post-college, good for him, but the fact of the matter is most other athletes (football, basketball, baseball, volleybally, swimming, lacrosse, soccer, etc etc etc) are there to get an education.

i am getting sick and tired arguing/debating with someone as pigheaded stubborn as you are so whatever, since you're such a college football genius why don't you come up with the perfect way and plan to hold a playoff, hell you might even become a millionaire in the process.

it doesn't matter, even if a playoff system was instituted, the next big gripe would then be how the seedings are determined. i mean seriously, this yr it's a no brainer that michigan and usc should play to see who's the real #2 and get a shot at ohio state. but what about any other yr? ppl are going to bitch up a real storm about how the seedings aren't fair or how it's not any different than a conference game or homefield or

    1. Win your conference, go in the playoffs.
    2. No homefields, use current bowl locations
    3. Use the NFL system as a guideline for seedings

lol, that right there shoots the system in the foot, are you saying teams such as wisconsin and the loser of the arkansas/uf game doesn't deserve to play in a playoff??? what's the point of it then if these good teams aren't given a chance?

not sure how much the schools and fans will like going to certain locations like hawaii or idaho...

not that cut and dry and will cause controversy if 2 teams from the same conference happen to be seeded together (just one ugly scenario)

It depends on how many teams you put in the playoffs. You could do the winner of the conference or you could do the winner of the conference and the rest are determined by record.

Not really. It is easier than it is made out to be. And, I am not trying to say I have the perfect system, but I am saying you have not come up with a good case not to change.

ok let's say for instance that uf and usc are to play in a playoff game, in hawaii, who do u think will have more fans in attendance? next example, say auburn and lsu are to play in a playoff game and they get sent to idaho to play there, how many fans u think will want to go there?

bc what if michigan and wisconsin gets put together in said playoff system and in the playoff game, wisconsin wins, same argument about the osu/michigan potential rematch arises once again.

it's far from easy even if u manage to work out the logistical and scheduling issues.
