Default My xbox 360 problem - CD drive.

My xbox 360 has the red rings of death on it, so I bought another xbox 360 that had a bad cd drive. Replaced that cd drive with my xbox 360 cd drive. The CD drive opens and closes fine and also recognizes CD's. Now when i put a xbox360 game in there, it says must insert a xbox360 cd/dvd in this xbox 360 console.

I searched and cant really find the answer that I am looking for. Help me out..

i think each cd drive has a key or something on it and for your xbox to support the new drive it needs the original key from it. This happened to my friend and he did the same thing as you but ended up giving up and just buying another xbox

It's true.. You can't just swap the drive in a Xbox or ps3..

    EDIT:
But this guys claims you don't need to have it flashed.

You can't just put another rom in there and expect it to work. You have to extract the key from your old rom, and flash your new rom with it.
