Your opinion lacks one thing. Most of the folks that are looking down on today's rap have nothing to compare it to. Sure they may have heard (some of) the old school joints, but they never experienced it first hand. The reason why I feel like I have a valid say in this is because I HAVE been at the point of rap's beginning. I bought Sugar Hill Gang's very first album. When it first came out. I bought all of Run DMC's shiit the days they came out. I was listening to Kurtis Blow, Busy Bee and The Treacherous Three when it was brand new funk. I've listened to rap change over all the years. Listening to rap when it first came on the scene is an experience none of you guys will EVER understand. It was new. It was different. It was a feeling that no one had felt before. It was awesome. I loved it from the first time I heard it. You can't take a younger cat and throw in a Grandmaster Flash album now-a-days and expect him to have that same feeling. You know what I'm saying?

You are right about that. But if you'll notice, most of the stuff I post (downloads and videos) are stuff that cater to listeners of today's rap. There's quite a few WC albums I can post up but I don't. I put it out there, even if I can't stand it, because I have something that someone else may like and if I do, I'll give it to that person.

Oh yea...I agree with you, and I see where you are coming from. As far as this thread goes your opinion is about the only one I can really respect. You actually were there @ the begining till today.

I get sick of these dudes that ain't never been through shi!t. Come in here and want to spewl out some Bullsh!t like they know what rap is, or act like they sold dope on the same block T.I. did, and actually been in the hood. When they wasn't even born/thought about when that sh!t took place. I am not by far not an O.G., or some veterant (that can spit out fact's and dates) in the game. My whole rant was toward Diabolic, leobond001, CaneCorso, and Seun.

Yea and I appreciate that. Wont to many more people do that. *cough cough* like myself, lol.

SIDENOTE: Its funny... Cause the things I listen to today my kids aren't going to like. Viceversa I probably wont like there stuff either. Generation difference thats it. I would be wrong if I started going in some of these rock/alternative/Techno threads, and started fvcking them up. I wont cause I respect what they doing.

True for the first part of your response.

For this part, very true. Generation gaps are a funny thing when it comes to music. Parents have never liked the music from their offspring's time. And vice versa. Later, QD.

Lol, dude get real. Boat Rock...so you are a real gangsta you seen dope actually get sold, huh? Boat Rock isn't the projects, you were misinformed.
2nd I never said anything about you being from the projects. My whole thing was how are you going to justify/judge that man. You wasn't his right hand man, and you don't know him personally. so don't get on here and spewl out your incorrect information.

Lol at you knowing someone. Let me guess you know someone who know someone who know his cousin or something. You are a producer right? PM me a hit record, otherwise STFU

I am not going to argue with you.

naw i don't know someone that know someone that know someone. i know direct ppl. and i'm not from boat rock. i am from s.w. atl though. i hung there when i was young and stupid. and it was considered the projects. so i hope your old enough to remember 95-97. and i'm not cool cuz i seen dope being sold. great generalization. but ppl that are into that kind of stuff don't brag about it on records.

and if you really want to hear some stuff, go to sole munkie on cone street and pick up the wade b. album. other than that. you need to lime wire some j-hop artist.

    have a nice ****ing day.

i feel ur pain, at times it use to be real lyrical, complex wordplay, great metaphors and similes, combine that with great flow = fire. I understand things change but most artist now have 1 or the other but in most cases just a decent flow.

I have to disagree with that notion. I have albums of majority of the above artist, but I like T.I.'s music. Most people don't give new age the credit it deserves. We all have opinions obviously, but you can't keep comparing 80's and early 90's to now. It evolves, thats why it sells.

Now if you could put TI against NAS, in a battle, NAS would slaughter him. With that said, battle rapping these days is not what it was back then. Now you have guys REALLY angry at each other and take shots on their albums and videos. TI is mastering his time in the game. He rips 90% of what is out CURRENTLY.

BTW, there is a difference in the Hip Hop genres.

Oh ok, understood. NAS would slaughter him, lol. With that said though, TI does destroy the "grouping" that he is in. I dont think people try to compare the TI/Jeezy/Luda types to the Nas/Taleb/Mos Def types, at least I don't. They are too far apart in content.
