    Default imax broke

so yea. my friend got these tickets to go see batman in the imax. paid for them in advance about a week ago. i've never been to an imax theater so i was all excited to watch this.

get about 50 minutes into the movie and screen goes bye bye. we hear sound but no screen. was crazy. my 1st imax experience, and it breaks. guy comes out and is like...yea our machine over heated or something. ended up giving everyone 2 free imax tickets. so who wants this extra ticket? lol

anyone else ever been to imax and have this happen to you!?

Yeah I heard about this. We had tickets to the 1:30am, but we called afterwards and they told us it should be up by then. We went, and sure enough, it worked fine.

The screen is HUUUUUGE! And the sound is x10000 better.

From wiki: IMAX (short for Image Maximum) is a film format created by Canada's IMAX Corporation that has the capacity to display images of far greater size and resolution than conventional film display systems available at the time. A standard IMAX screen is 22 m wide and 16.1 m high (72.6 ft x 52.8 ft), but can be larger. As of 2008, IMAX is the most widely used system for large-format, special-venue film presentations. As of March 2007, there were 280 IMAX theatres in 38 countries (60% of these are located in Canada and the United States). Half of these are commercial theatres and half are in educational venues. A variation of IMAX, IMAX DOME (originally called OMNIMAX), is designed for projection on tilted dome screens. Films can also be projected in 3D with IMAX 3D.

Also, there were certain scenes in TDK that were specifically shot just for IMAX formatting, and can only be viewed at the IMAX showings. They're some of the city scape and panning scenes.

I really refused to see this movie in any other theater but an IMAX.

You know what, I don't really remember. It might have been.

Batman Begins was filmed for IMAX formatting, and so was I Am Legend, and the last two or three Harry Potters. Those are the most recent ones I've seen in the IMAX.

I remember seeing king kong in theaters then seeing it in IMAX! WOW what a difference. I have seen quite a few IMAX films but not very many hollywood productions on IMAX.

US NAVY Blue Angels in an IMAX theater was intense. Especially the view from inside the plane. Made my wife a little uneasy. I loved it though.

But I have also yet to see a blockbuster flick there....I will hold out for Fast and Furious 4.

    Later !!!

most documentary's are diff from the hollywood imax films

the documentary ones use a more curved screen type which requires special camera's etc. Its why the mall of GA imax shows hollywood and the one downtown shows documentary types.
