    George you need to check out Rush's first album. (self titled)

    it was their only one that had that early 70's led zeppelin british rock sound. You'll love it i'm sure. Rush is pretty much my only band, so i love everything they've made.. but even my friends who don't like Rush love that first album. Check out "What you're doing" <---GREAT song, "In the Mood", "before and After", "WOrking man"... hell, download the whole album. there are only 8 songs on it.

    also check out:

    joe walsh - lifes been good
    anything by led zeppelin - kashmir, d'yer make'r, whole lotta love, etc...
    zz top - sharp dressed man, tush, la grange
    queen - bohemian rhapsody
    pink floyd - anything off dark side of the moon or wish you were here
    heart - barracuda

    My former roomate had this obsession with old music. He literally would sit on the internet for hours a day researching old bands, the story of how certain songs came about.

    Wikipedia is your friend on this one. Read up on influences and such.

    Oh if your looking for an easy way too.

    Check out Pandora.com its an online radio station. Put in a song, it then chooses songs with the same sound to them. I think its pretty damn accurate.


    I put in Ride on Josephine and it came up with "Bony Monronie" By Johnny Winter.

    Same old stuff.
