It is to be eaten! Not someones pet! Mark, I wish we had him on the team but dog fighting isn't the same as hunting! Deer get a shot to the head or heart, not thrown into the ground, drown, hung, etc... I guess you think eating a steak or piece of grilled chicken is inhumane too? :rolleyes: Come on... I got a response but not in a position to type it out right now, i'll do it when I get home. In a nutshell, punishment does not fit the crime and JAIL TIME is not the only way to punish someone.. I'll explain later.

There is a huge difference between hunting and dog fighting.

Hunters EAT their prey.
Dog fighters don't.

Hunters PAY to be licensed.
Dog fighters don't.

Hunters PAY to preserve wildlife habitats.
Dog fighters don't.

Hunters control WILD animal populations.
Dog fighters don't.

Hunters don't hunt for money.
Dog fighters do.

Hunters don't purposely injure their prey and stand around and watch it, cheer it on, or even bet to see when it's going to die.
Dog fighters do.

Finally, and most importantly:

Hunting is LEGAL.
Dog fighting is not.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; In other cultures and countries, women are possessions and not human. In other countries and cultures, children are literally owned by their parents and even given away LEGALLY. In other countries and cultures, people get their hands chopped off or stoned to death or put in front of a firing squad as forms of punishment. In other countries and cultures, it is customary to marry your kin or have sex with them.

Does that mean it's "ok" to do here? Why not? Why can't someone from that part of the world walk up to YOUR sister or mother and slap her across the face for "disrespecting" them? Why can't someone have sex with your minor sister and justify it by saying it's ok in "their country"?

Every single criminal will find some BS sob story to justify their crime(s). Doesn't change the FACT that they still committed a crime, now does it? So in the end, you can justify all the things you do wrong, yet it doesn't make them any more "right". Get it? ;)

Was it really clearly defined? This became a felony 7 days before they searched Vicks house so no.. up to 5 years was not clearly defined when the acts were committed.

Is it right that a man can pay for child porn, get caught and never see jail time but someone who does provide a service to the community is locked away for 2 years for paying for a crime that is arguable just as heinous? I'm not going to argue right or wrong here but I will argue the crime and the punishment.

I doubt that there will be an opening for vick. lets face it vick was not that good to begin with it was all hype yes he was versitle probably ran the ball more than most QB's but he was not that great of a quarterback. I doubt that 2 years in prison plus possible year suspension on top of that will help his abilities. i think the only reason he got as much as he did was because he didnt roll over on people like he was supposed to

I dont think it is right that state is finally moving its feet on the dog fighting matter, especially right after the Feds came in and did state job for them. Vick will be back, more than likely as a running back after he beefs up in jail.

The only similarity is that an animal dies in both situations. In a dogfight, the loser dies a painful and inhumane death and the winner (assuming he is still fairly OK) lives. The only "benefit" comes if you bet on the right dog. In a slaughterhouse, an animal dies in a much more humane fashion. However, slaughterhouse killings are worlds more humane and there are lots of benefits (food, leather, etc.). Oh yeah, slaughterhouse killings are also LEGAL.

IMO I wouldn't even consider hiring Vick if I were a team owner. This isn't Vick's first time to have legal trouble, and he sure showed a lot of responsibility by failing that drug test when he knew it was coming :rolleyes:.

he was a excellent QB, when your receivers drop all the damn balls of course that makes you look bad. vick was what future QB's needed to be able to do, get out of the pocket when it breaks down, and be able to escape defensive backs for some yards. if brady didnt have that good O-line, he would not be as good as he looks. defenses are getting faster by the season, and all that traditional drop back pass technique is not going to cut it.

WTF are you talking about? If he killed a person he would be serving 25 to Life...NOT 23 months.

Slaughter house = Legal

Dog fighting = Illegal, and then when you start taking it across state lines it becomes a felony

It doesn't matter if you think dog fighting isn't any different than a slaughter house(which isn't a good argument anyway). The facts are it is illegal. I think smoking pot should be legal, but if I got caught with it (especially going across state lines) I would damn sure expect jail time.
