jeezy is aight, hes all hype. Hes only getting this much attention because hes from atlanta. all upcoming atlanta artist have all that hype surrounding him. they got the whole city behind them and the south is running hip hop
The west coast fell off and will never get where it was. The only way the west is ever going to get aknowledged again is if you find rappers the same level as ice cube, tupac, dr dre, mc eight, korupt, too short, snoop dogg etc, all these rappers are getting old and doing there own thing, not to mention alot of them have soften up and arent as "gangster" anymore. so the west is going to have to find a whole new dream team
rap is really all about preferance, differnt strokes for differnt folks
Exactly. Every city gets behind their hometown boy.Originally Posted by XLR8NMr2

Again, very true. And I honestly don't see it happening right now. There is a lot of talent, but no one is funded enough or "talented" enough for anyone to talk to them. Plus, a lot of WC rappers wanna keep it street. They don't want to get commercialized. SO they don't go looking for that market.Originally Posted by XLR8NMr2
It is actually happening now. It is called The New West. Got all these new guys doing it up. They just released a new track called We're All in the Same Gang Part 2. I heard some of it and it is a decent track.Originally Posted by XLR8NMr2

I know what you mean though.. Rappers out the south arent stuck on the shelf like alot of the others....
But record sales dont mean shit as far as talent is concerned...
To me, the cds that these southern rappers are puttin out have no replay value...
i bought the jeezy cd...its better then i thought, he did have songs on there that didn't leak...i liked it overall, the dvd that came with it....lets just say the "and then what" video...tha girl on teh bed.....and he was at magic City....no censors

if the south is ruining hip hop then theyve been doing it for 10+ years. Most the south shit we hear today isnt anything new, the only difference between southern rap now is there getting play on the raido,MTV, there getting more mainstream and the rap is actually getting out of atlanta and getting play other cities.Originally Posted by NzProjeKt
replay value? I listen to music however i feel at the time, if i feel like getting crunk i wont put in a boyz 2 men cd, if im sad and feeling down i wont put in a lil jon cd.
Whats ruining hip hop knowadays is the listeners, cause we have the biggest say on who runs shit or not, sales mean alot more then you think, sales is why alot of good rappers find work elsewhere, you have to do whatever you can do to sell to the mainstream, if not ur just another rapper on the side of the street
It may just be me, but i see alot of the newer rappers out the south as simply entertainers and nothing more...Originally Posted by XLR8NMr2

Some of these cds that sound good now may not be something that will be worth listening to in the years to come...
But like you said "differnt strokes for differnt folks"
