BioShock is actually the most obvious choice for GOTY for most gaming publications.

ps3 after one year of release has more games than the 360 had after one year of release.
ps3 sold more units after one year of release than the 360 did in one year.
ps3 sales are increasing world wide at a big rate. 360 sales spiked for halo3 then shot back down.
and the RROD problem isnt fixed. and adding more heatsinks to it fixed only 5% of their 34% failure's.
Also all the 360 good games are mostly FPS types. The ps3's top games are mostly all different genre's. A big plus
and the ps3 does have alot of great games coming within the whole next year. mgs4 in about 5 months, ffXIII in about a year. killzone 2 next summer. god of war 3 fall next year. GT5 to name a few and then there are the multiplatform ones like DMC4 of which every demo and Screen you've seen was on the ps3 console for a reasonGTAIV will be out soon. rock band etc. reason i bring up the multi platform ones is before the arguement was the 360 was getting all the good games. now there on both.
and for those who realize that a console can be more than just a game machine that breaks alot, the ps3 is an amazing value. for those who say hd movies arent worth it obviously hasnt experienced it.

IGN called the first one "underwhelming and mediocre", it got crappy reviews around the board and the general consensus was the graphics and audio were the only things the held the game's crappy gameplay and buggy performance together into something decent.
Why expect the second one to be any better?
The PS3's "top games" have all been to this point either multiplatform or inferior to Xbox's exclusives, and the reviews will back me up on this.
As much as I cringe at the thought of gaming publication asshats being the measuring stick here, it certainly is a lot better than simply stating that <x> <y> <z> sucks "cuz I said so".

I have owned both the PS3 and the XBOX 360 elite, and I can truthfully say that the PS3 is better. I sold my PS3 to BB6dohcvtec simply because I did not know a single other person with a PS3, so there was nobody to play online with around my area. All of my friends have 360's, so I got a 360 elite. Graphics wise the PS3 is a little better. The online play and setup of the online system on the xbox is much better though. However, to watch movies in HD you have to buy a seperate HD-DVD player which is only HDMI 1.2, where as the blu-ray player in the PS3 is true HDMI 1.3 1080P. If sony could come up with an online system like XBOX LIVE, they would own the video game console market.
All in all, people can't hate on one or another unless they have owned both. I plan on buying another PS3 since the price has come down a lot. I saw at gamestop where they are getting a 40gb PS3 that will cost $399. They are almost as cheap as the XBOX 360 premium now.

and why should killzone 2 be better? because it looks better. cus the demo's are better. cus everyone who's seen it in play said its amazing. Because when a game just uses the same name but is developed comepletely differently and many years later then perhaps it shouldnt be judged on the first one. If that were the case, then batman begins shoulda been really crappy based on the older batman movies. But they went a completely new direction with it and they are doing the same for this game in terms of development.
But either way we can sit and argue here about KZ2 but ima just say this, wait till its out. then say what you want after you've played it. and then it will be your proper opinion vs right now your just speculating based on pretty much nada.
Thers a reason why the FPS games are the best on 360 for a reason, the controls alone. Anyone tried to play fps on a playstation controller, its terrible!!
GTA is supposed to have plenty of xbox live exclusives strictly for the xbox and the xbox only, which has been confirmed numerous times by rockstar.
The ps3 still has a great fanbase, but the truth is that the xbox has already pretty much won over much of the developers, and has become the favorite pretty much. Its really hard to come back from that. The first xbox made a huge comeback, in its last 3 years after halo 2 and xbox live got better and better, and microsoft actually backed up ther product, rather than just drop prices and throw more stuff at you.
Sony has a track record of promising **** and never doing it.. The PS2 was full of that, and it wasnt very reliable either, i had 2 ps2's break for no reason, just one day stopped reading discs.. after that i never bothered with a playstation again. and about half of the games on that list are multiplatform.
and about killzone, man the first one was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! so i have no hope for this one.. the videos look great, but unless i can play it with a 360 controller or a keyboard and mouse, i wont even touch it. i refuse to play a fps with a ps controller!

but yeah personally i cant play any fps with a controller. while i could hook up my keyboard and mouse to my ps3 as their bluetooth, i'd rather just play it on the pc also.
but in terms of developers yeah they worked primarily on the 360 first. If you read up alot on the newest games coming out multi platform they are now doing seperate developments aka. no 360 design then port. or their making it on the ps3 first and then porting to 360. and that trend will continue on.
heres why they first had problems.
sony has different lvl development kits for making games on the ps3. alpha, beta, and i believe they called the last one gamma instead of theta.
basically SCEA got the alpha kits, and then BIG companies got the beta and small developers got the gamma. Of course the alpha is the best and easiest to use with the most tools and so other compnaies had a few issues. But now sony gives every developr the full alpha set. like with GTAIV. one reason for it being pushed back was that sony gave them a upgraded dev kit and they reworked alot of it.
The companies who were having small problems jnow have a better kit to use and are redoing some of their coding. THus the delays in recent games as sony gave this to people about 1.5 to 2 months ago. and to GTAIV dev team earlier and thats where they saw the advantage to do so.
Going forward if everyone gets the alpha kit, and sony now also sends dev teams to these places to help if needed, were not gonna see many problems at all and as they become more comfortable with the coding the games will of course get alot better.
I have hope for killzone 2, i saw the video's and game play video's and it seriously looks amazing. The details, physics, etc look wicked.
oh ok, well atleast they are trying. ill admit sony has a new commercial running showing soem new games, and it looks nice. The price is about right also. As much **** as i talk about Gran turismo, everytime i see videos of it i want it...lol it bring back memories of 10th grade playin GT2 all night! i do kind of want a ps3, imjust disappointed with their lack of games..and ve been a xbox fanboy for so long...lol its hard to go back
Yeah I got it for the PC. Shooters on consoles are lame, I don't even remember the last time I played a shooter on my PS3.
Oblivion- the best game on the PS3- is a multiplatform release.
You'll find that Ratchet and Clank got an average of 89%, which is good, but not amazing, nor were the words of the reviewers generally amazingly flattering.
Same with RFOM.
Coincidentally, same with Warhawk.
Heavenly Sword is a shallow and repetitive game and the reviews reflect this.
As far as Killzone Two goes, how does it look better?
Journalists were reporting that in the versions that were demoed to them the AI was taking cover on the wrong sides of walls and other behavior issues of the sort.
Its developed by the same people, the same people who have a pretty meh track record at developing games. Its more logical to draw the conclusion that it will follow in the foodsteps of mediocrity than tred a new path of grandeur or groundbreaking game design.
Gears of War by the way, a third person shooter. The upcoming Mass Effect (from developer BioWare, which has an extremely good track record) and Too Human, RPGs. What do you want, a platformer too?
Really, its because Microsoft bagged partnerships with better devs.
That being said, the PS controller is intolerably small and symmetrical.

well lets see. your opinion is oblivion is the best game. ratchet scored over 90 by nearly every reviewer out there and alot of the reviews i read said amazing things about it. Maybe your reading the review in 360 mag or something. I did not find heavenly sword shallow and repetetive btw, by our accounts bioshock would be. as its shorter, and repeats the same mobs moreso than heavenly sword.
upcoming games mass effect is nice looking. but so is drakes fortune. P.S killzone 2 is months and months away from release. they demo's they were showing were there to show mostly the lighting and physics effects as they stated. Which btw looked amazing. how does it look better? err have u seen the demo's and videos?? and if so your stupidly blind please dont drive.

Ive owned both the 360 and now a PS3. I also own a Wii.
I own a 46in Samsung LCD with HDMI.
I can honestly say the PS3 graphics are much better than the 360. 360 did have some good games but they were all repetitive. I got tired of FEAR, GOW, HALO, etc. cool games but replay value sucked and too easy to beat.
My favorite game on Xbox was Lost Planet. I liked the storyline and the game play.
Now, my PS3 i love. I have Ninja Gaiden and Heavenly sword an those are some of the best games ive played. The environments, gameplay, storyline, etc is much more in depth than most 360 games i played.
the 360 couldnt duplicate the lighting an shadows that the ps3 gives you. It just feels so much more real with the PS3.
I think everyone is judging way to quickly. IMO it really isnt a contest anymore. The 360 came out a year before PS3. In a year Microsoft will come out with the NEXT system an we will be right back in this argument again.
PS3 isnt going anywhere, and its only going to get bigger an get more fans. WIth the prices falling an the games starting to come out faster, they will turn it around, and it will be just as popular as the PS2.
Microsoft, they won a battle maybe, but only because they are a year ahead in sales. Talk to me 1 year from TODAY and see where PS3 is at.

And no, it is not symmetrical, look at where the analog sticks are.

i got it that day it came out took forever to find it, they had it hidden in the back at circuit city when i asked for it. but its a god game, way better then cod3, and if you like resistance,which was my favorite game for a long time, mainly online chances are youll like this one. graphics are good, and online is better

the first section spot that had dogs. now im just after the area where you save the guy from the heli that crashed, and have to carry him. that part where your in the bomber plane with the 25, 75, and 105mm is probably the coolest thing of any game ive ever played. probably cause it looks nearly just as real as it does normally.

son of a bittttttttttch! im getting very annoyed with the part where you carry LT Price and you end up by a ferris wheel waiting for your heli, and helicopters drop ppl off everywhere and they come from behind the buildings in the far back. any tips on getting past this? i think ive tried everything possible. im on the hardest difficulty so theres all kinds of grenades, and dogs everywhere. all i have is a sniper and c4. i can get a rpg off the ground but its no good cause it dont shoot the helicopters down
