no, but two of my 360's have had aids... so i just keep taking them back to best buy ( i bought a 2 yr warranty...) which is soooooooooo much easier than dealing with microsoft...

no, it's been proven over and over....that there is nothing new technology about it! alot of rumors spread about how it had the new chip, and the RLOD was solved.....but after people stopped looking at the pics of both units taken apart, except for some bigger capacitors, they just moved alot of the old board around to try and help the problems with RLOD....
goto the microsoft xbox live forums and you will see this....the Elite is only black, big hd, and has hdmi cable.....other than that, it is nothing "new" about it.....EXACT same technology as the launch 360's.

nothing new....alot of tards jumped the gun and thought just because of the new placement of parts on the board, it made the elite, a better xbox that was built better with new stuff...that was not the case at all....
plenty of elite's have run into the RLOD
and Hulud, hypnotoad is COMPLETELY wrong you are not getting "new technology"...the RLOD is actually a simple fix...there's already tons of write up's on how to do it yourself, it has to do with the heat sink and some of the fragile soldering connections becoming overheated and brittle and then breaking

i didnt make anything up,MS said they redesigned it to perform better and they look completely different when u open them up........so if im talking out my ass this is the only thing...
negative.....the problem is really cooling....it's cheap soldering, that is manufactured so fast that it's not really done very well, and when your 360 heats up it become brittle and just breaks contact and the heat sink has some heat sink gel that is pretty cheap and it dries up pretty quickly or faster than microsoft thought it would, so it does not absorb alot of the heat that it's suppose to....so the guys who have fixed it themselves, just re soldered and applied alot more heatsink gel/goo and their's fired up no problems.
I have a first launch 360, and haven't had a problem at all (knock on wood) and I've had gears of war marathons, as well as madden tourneys and it's never failed me....so I'm one of the lucky ones
yep your correct they used the same exact components that they produced 2 or 3 years ago....they had so much in stock that they said FUCK IT they will come out with the elite with all the old pieces left over! New tech. does not have to mean all new designs and pieces it can mean better built pieces even if they come out the same. The boards can be modified just a bit to cut down on heat and such! RROD was something that occured when the console got to hot for to long to often! If the parts are spread just a bit to keep the heat down and give the console more air flow better odds of working! So next time you go trying to get techincal about it make sure you understand. The products can be the same but the elite iwth a redesign console insides has cut down on RROD! Hell it can still happen, but hey thats technology, you can buy the best top of the line computer thats only been on the market for a day and it will still run into problems, technology is not perfect!

I understand completely. Almost every one of my buddies has had their 360's go down, so we had alot of time researching and reading all the tech forums, and a few of them emailed microsoft tech support and telling them that they were gonna take the 360 apart themselves and did not care about the warranty and the reps told them to check the heatsink goo and the soldering.
When the Elite's were announced, everyone was excited because we were gonna trade ours in at EBgames and get the Elite, but after some were released in Europe and people started poking around and posted up pics, it didn't take long for everyone to notice that the only change was placement of parts, and the larger capacitors that were at the bottom of the board...but the soldering was still the same, and heatsink and processor were still the same.
Microsoft at this point has not released when they will be turning to the new processor that will let the 360 run smoother and faster and should not work the 360 as hard, but it's all hersay because some fanboy will come out and say they heard it will be in the next box, or it will be in the 08 models....
the fact of the matter is, Xbox has taken a huge hit on the RLOD and other warranty covered 360's....that they are not gonna do shit until they get that ironed out first
I hate to say it, but at this point I really think it is.
My next door neighbor went thru 4 360's already.... and two of my good buddies got 360's that were dead right out of the box....you hear of problems left and right....but there are a certain few that just havent had any problems with their box....and so far I've been lucky....I played forza 2 for about 6 hrs straight the first day I got it, and then played it for about 8 hours the next day at work, and it just keeps on ticking....againest what alot of people say, I bought the nyoko intercooler and it's been keeping my box cool
read one of my above post...friend did the same thing on his he got 1 months after they came out, bought the intercooler that day...his runs liek a champ still!
i had the intercooler on my last 30,and it melted to the box

yes, because it does not brand the microsoft seal of approval of certified products to be used with the xbox.....the first series i/c were poorly made and fried out the connections and would then short out and burn the fans and the xbox up......those have long been gone and they are on the third series, which no one has logged any complaints.....alot of people actually took their xbox apart and put in those new nifty led high powered computer fans in place of the stockers and it runs alot cooler and quieter....microsoft did not spend much money on our stock fans which are noisey and that's about it....they do a horrible job on getting the air moving, and I didnt want to hack up my box, so after research I got the pelican horizontal stand first because the nyoko i/c was jacking up xbox's left and right, but the pelican one has such weak fans that don't do as much either because you can still feel the xbox get hot, and then I waited and the i/c was getting better reviews and the new gens ones came out so I got it....it's noisey, but you can hear and feel how much hot air it pulls
as for the warranty, if I ever have to send it in, I'll just pull it off and send it in and they can point their fingers and all that....but I'll just deny it all. Nowadays anything can void warranty's, but you can always get around it
so which I/C did you end up getting (the 3rd gen). was it a newer pelican?
if so how can i tell the diff between a new one and a 1st gen one?

I got the nyoko intercooler....all of the first series were already pulled and all the ones for sale now, are the latest gen ones....you dont have to fear now, because it's been quite sometime since xbox's were frying with them
just make sure it's firmly plugged in, alot of people didnt which caused a short in the xbox and cooler
