90% of mainstream rap is garbage. A few good songs mixed in, but mostly not worth wating you life listening to it.
Underground rap is always the best you are going to find. I only really know the chichago underground cause thats where I grew up. I remember listening to Twista when he was still Tung Twista, Crucial Conflict before "Hay", DA Smart, B-Low 0, Snipaz, Southside Mobbin.
Other older, and not as well known NORTHERN rappers that stayed pretty much in the underground. Dayton Family from Detroit is the one that comes to min at 3am, but there are others.

I didn't even see that. But yes, Gangstarr is a group. The very first time I saw/heard them, I though GS was the name of the rapper, lolol.Quote:

i guess...whats your thoughts on immortal technique, JackMaster
i mean i know a little bit...i think rakim is definetly a legend and a landmark in hip hop, not g.o.a.t but who cares if he hasnt done shit for 15 years...its about what he did do in that 5 year period like your sayingQuote:

i was actually waiting for jackmaster and qd to come in this thread lol and knew i was gunna get flamed but i just wanna see what others think..
that first list was a list of people on this cd i was burning...not G.o.a.t but good rappers in general.
I never flamed. Later, QD.
I like white rappers and amateur rappers myself....I like some mainstream rap also, but I like to keep it simple
White rappers is an oxymoron. The only white rapper I will listen to is MC Serch and Pete Nice. And they aren't pure white. Later, QD.
I dunno....I dont like all that white rappers do butQuote:

What did Rakim do ? How is he a legend? I mean, Eric B and him could never out shine RUN DMC... Or Kurtis Blow... Who were hot around the mid to late 80's..
NOTHING.... he was/is wack... I mean.. when LL and Fresh prince steal your shine.. how good can you really be?
hahaha.
He was diffrent back in the Mid to late 80's because of his slow and raw delievery of his rhymes.... It was diffrent back then..
But You have to realize when he went solo around 90-91 or whatever year it was...
He was going against some Future HIP HOP GOATS.
And underground is turning into grabage to... I was a HUGE fan of underground hip hop...
But now all those MOFO's are rapping about the same shit.... ..
