    Default Release of Windows Vista

i went and checked it out today in the stores and it looks amazing, it is the biggest change up in Microsoft OS technology since Windows 95

it is supposedly a lot more fluent then XP and can support the next gen of PC games that have yet to even be released yet. 95% of the market share is on Windows now instead of Mac, and now windows even feels like a Mac with all of the support of all the other software developers that Mac Lacks and at a cheaper price tag. Microsoft impresses the crowds yet again.

it gives support that will let you stream things to your Xbox 360 like movies and play them on your tv.

it looks to me like this is gonna be a BIG blow to sony in the Blu-Ray v. HD-DVD and 360 v. PS3 race.

i really think sony is doing a good job of shooting itself in the foot
    opinions?

I personally will NEVER upgrade my computers with Windows XP to Vista. They run so much copyright protection that it is hard to do things like rip CDs and copy stuff. With Vista, big brother is watching your computer ALL the time. Oh and I'm one of that 5% that supports Macs, but I own plenty of Windows computers.

i think mac users will have their support either way, it'll prob hurt mac from getting new consumers.

but most people who have a mac love it and aren't changing

Blu-ray failing wont come close to killing Sony. And apple will never die.

    I like windows more though.

Vista is nice but it is a resources monster... if your not running mac daddy system you dont' get all of the features

i have had beta running for a while connected to my 360 and its same setup as previous xp media center OS but it is still cool. it is worth getting though it has alot of features which are nice; but the price tag

(and one of the last 360 patches enabled you to stream from newest windows media player )

i'm going to wait until i absolutely have to upgrage.

even if its better its by no means going to crush windows...

95 / 5 market share is not going to flip because of Mac coming out with a new OS

i've read some pretty bad shit about it. costs alot, takes alot of memory, and like was said above, it has alot of copywrite shit on it that makes it hard to do shit.

I got a new computer today with Vista already loaded on it and so far it is pretty cool. Has some neat features and also has some weird shit that may take a little to get used to.

We shall see...I can always switch back to XP Pro.

Sont telling the porn industry that it wont let them use thier blue ray DVD to sell porn just fucked Sony and the future of Blue Ray. The Porn industry sets the standard that the main stream will use, now they will go to HD-DVD which will now mean the standard will be HD-DVD

Oh and Vista looks good but I wont buy it unless down the road I buy a new Laptop with it

is it gonna slow down my system to get the home premium edition?

I just use Style XP and make WinXP look like whatever the hell I want lmao. There's a skin that duplicates OS X, and it's FUNNY to see art school kids trip out about a PC that, at first glances, appears to be running OS.

Vista FTL.. I agree that it's gonna make ripping and burning and pirating a lot harder. I'm broke enough WITHOUT having to pay $1200 for the Adobe Creative Suite.. I like being able to hack programs.. I'll stick with XP until, as was mentioned before, I absolutely HAVE to change.

If any of you guys really want to try out Vista, me and a few friends are coming along pretty quickly hacking it.. should be up on torrent sites in a few days if it's not already.

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

Dont buy just yet. Too many bugs right now especially with the hacking very easy for some reason. Security on that isnt too tight have no clue why. Also very weird on the controls and what not that's what my cousins says. Its like a puzzle trying to figure stuff it. Its cool but wait a good year to upgrade it from XP. Then it's worth it since all major bugs and hitches are gone. And Ive played with the beta and it was odd went back to xp. F that crap.

Well after a few weeks of vista (home basic came with my new laptop) i can officially say it sucks. While the interface is different and looks nice, it is significantly slower than XP and doesnt really add any functionality for me. My laptop (core duo 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 100gb hd etc) its slow as shit with vista, it easily loads xp pro in about 1/4 of the time. I hope to be putting os x on it very soon.

Ive had vista for about a week now, vista business, and I haven't noticed any slow down or speed differences vs xp. I got amd 3000+ 2 gig ram, 200 gig hd. Im looking to upgrade the processor in a bit, then it will be a pretty damn machine.

Runs fine on my new system. I wouldn't worry about upgrading til you upgrade to a new setup, but ya, definatly might as well step up when you do. Seems to run fine for me tho, I heard alot of problems before I got it, but I've only ran into a few compatibility problems since I got it. Nothin' serious.

You have to build a computer for it, and that's sad. With the new Dell that I'm getting I made sure that I got enough ram to take care of it. Dell recommended at least 1gig of ram.. So I got 2. and 2 more going in it whenever I get it. SATA Raid 0 drive should also help. I remember reading it was designed around the core duo processor. I may wind up going back to xp-pro though... considering I actually bought a legit copy of it a year ago.

I just want to run it to see how it goes. I'll eventually have to change to it... so might as well learn all of the short cuts now so I can show up a lot of people

What kind of worthless OS prevents you from bootlegging software?? If thats the case with vista I'm keeping my XP-Pro and Alienware Skin. Do not upgrade to Vista if you have an inferior processor or ram than me. XP-Pro uses 34% of my ram with several background apps. Vista will use twice that. So in order to get Vista to run on my computer like XP does, I'll need twice as much ram. To get it to run faster than XP-Pro SP2 on my computer, I'd need 4GB of ram and that will set me back by $400.

    Heres my system specs:
    CPU: AMD 3200+ 64
    RAM: 1GB DDR400/PC3200
    GPU: nVidia/EVGA GeForce 8800GTS
    HD1: Western Digital Raptor 150GB HDD 10,000RPM
    HD2: Western Digital 250gb HDD
    DVD: Lite-ON 20x DVD Burner
    DVD: Sony 16x DVD Burner
Mobo: Gigabyte K8N nForce Ultra SLi
