    GL finding an OBD0 dizzy.

Go ahead & take the dist cap off (3 screws) and see what the 'metal rolling around' is.

    Until they fail

I buy a lot of second hand items, but I wont buy anything electrical used unless I truly trust that person. I will never buy stereo equipment, an alternator, dizzy, starter, or anything of that sort used because you never know what condition it's in until it's to late.

Ugh bought the one for 75 its in timing is way off now. Wish I had a timing light. But it works and hopefully it'll work for a while. I didn't havr the cash to buy a new one or I would've. Goal is to upgrade to obd1 but that requires more cash than I had. Wish I woulda checked the post earlier anti-poon but I needed it. Unfortunately I got the oil changed and they said my rear main was leaking I thought we changed that when I put the motor in but.....ugh always something

hey actually anyone think that where the guy thought my rear main seal was leaking could have been oil coming from the distributor seals? considering i just changed the distributor right before i went to get teh oil changed. i didn't get to go in the pit and check myself

or does that ^^even make sense ? lol just trying to find info online

I've got a timing light you can borrow. I'm slambed on saturday lots of stuff to do. By saturday night I wont know if I'm punch, bored or naturally split.

also o-ring at the dizzy will cause the look of the rear main seal. I know this due to miss diagnosis of old mechanic. He told me rear mail seal gone. we replaced it and the leak was still there. Change out dizzy oring boom gone.

LOL usually can check around the head area(near dizzy) and if its leaking then you will see small stream of oil.

ugh how much will the timing affect performance. just wondering. i have yet to adjust my timing since i changed the distributor and there's a serious lag. since i haven't adjusted my timing i was just wondering what the odds are that that's what it is

you dont have to do timing after you change the dizzy.Your timing should be fine,Unless the car jump timing then you could have a problem.

Not all distributors are made the same, setting ignition timing after a dizzy change is a must

Yep. I think sometimes the internals get installed just a hair different between distributors. Ive had aftermarket dizzies that i had adjusted all the way to one side to get them on time, whereas some are dead center or close to it.

Even advanced auto and vatozone sell timing lights on the cheap. They may let you rent one too.

I'm having some issues still. couldn't get timing set right. when the dizzy seized could it have caused the timing belt to slip a tooth or more?
