    Anybody have any recommendations on which type of throttlebody/intake kit combination works well? Or better yet does it matter? I'm considering purchasing some new bolt on goods for my bday and would like to know.

    And of course, it cant be baller status, just dollar menunair status guys.

    Mileage is estimated at 143,xxx
    Full 2.25 inch exhaust and header.
    No other mods, unless u count that Obd-0 ECU as a mod, but it hasnt been chipped.
    At least to my knowledge

    Ok....

    I'd def get into an OBD1 conversion as one of my top prioroties. SlowMotion can tune Uber (if that's more affordable to you, but you know I am a Hondata man).

    My 1st order of business would be (if I had your car) the conversion to OBD1. Followed close by tuning what you have on the dyno. I've always had the luxury of parking a car while I am modding it, so 1 tune after the build. BUT, in your case...

    1) buy the parts for OBD1 conversion
    2) chipped ECU
    3) nice street cams w/ adj gears
    4) 50 shot wet nitrous
    5) traction bars

    Take the 1st 3 items, get them installed and tuned on the dyno

    Then add the gas/bars later and call it a day.

    It also never hurts to add a beefier ignition when you are spraying.

    Chalk the nitrous, I'm just trying to reach roughly 160-170hp. So the Obd-0 isnt better for overall top-end horsepower?

    But I will most definantly look into the first 3 items and I get it tuned from someone over there in WV. Since the first 3 are actually reachable. So no need for a TB? Just a nice Air intake. EBay here I come.

    I've got most of the crap for an OBD1 conversion...

    And by most, I mean an ECU (PR4...actually, I told Mr. Kidd it'd be his...depends on what happens here, I guess) and the injectors and pigtails and I might even have an extra fuel rail? I think I've also got an extra exhaust manifold/downpipe and O2 sensor...

    I'd have to check, but I've got like 3 different OBD1 pigtails...LoL.

    You'll still need your dizzy. I can't remember what else...

    basically, let me know if you go OBD1 so I can get you some goodies. I've gotta get the crap outta my basement.

    The only problem was the vacuum lines. Once I get a new radiator and thermostat in, the motor will be mostly ok. But it has developed a "trying to die" sensation on occasion. IDK... but I'ma look into it. Runs great though runnin with DSM's!!

    i smell another getting outta the game thread

    FIX UR MOTOR! get it tip top shape then mod!!! your throwing money at a bottomless pit buying performance before doing basic maint.

    get your motor dialed in first aka fix all your small problems then upgrade

    U cant smell it if I dont cook it.

    IDK if its a problem and that lil "race" we had was before the car got warm enough. No thermostat and 5degree weather, so u kno, it just idled as if it was warming up. So I had no idea. As for the problem itself. I'm mistified as always.

    I dont get that, its like ur the only person that even says that. I'm not THAT retarded. Everything that needed to be done has been done. Like when u buy a used car period. Oil/air/fuel filters, transmisson oil changed, radiator will be flushed and filled whenever i get a new one as well as that thermostat, new timingbelt. Everything on the chassis itself is new, seeing as I did all that with the other motor.

    I MAY get a new waterpump, but it works fine. What the ELSE am I suppose to do then? Since u seem to know it all, all the time for me.

    Kid...kid....easy. Let's back it up. When you FIRST joined here, we welcomed you and said that yes, we're a family, we welcome anyone to come around, BUT, we tend to be sarcastic and brutal, pretty much. I know because I'm the one that usually warns people after I welcome them with something along those lines.

    Next...you JUST stated you raced a DSM while your car has issues...the thermostat for example. If the engine isn't running it's proper temperature, the motor will not perform properly, thus causing more problems, or starting some to begin with. For example, if the motor is too hot, engine oil can thin-out, and shave metal or put a hole in the side of the block...or...finally, it can seize a piston in the cylinder. Not to mention the fact that if it's too hot, metal expands. What do you think that's doing to your moving components at their contact points? To the other extreme, a cold motor has oil that HASN'T been thinned out, and can cause too high or too low of oil pressure because it can't suck up the thick oil quick enough, or because it's trying to put too much oil (law of physics on affect of temperature to density) through the lines and in the contact points. All this aside, you still have to think of how the temperature is affecting your exhaust. It can burn up a cat converter, and will throw misreadings to an o2 sensor, causing it to cause the computer to try to make up the difference and give more or less fuel, which throws off your compression and everything. Not to mention, you know what happens when you take a really hot piece of glass and put it in cold water...it shatters. Again...imagine what the laws of physics are doing to your motor? All this comes together to bring up my next point...you pushed a motor (racing a DSM) before it was warmed up. You're not even supposed to drive a car until it reads on your temp gauge in the car. Hell, they actually say you're not supposed to drive it at all until it reaches normal opp. temp.

    Building cars is about experience and experiences. I've done just about every project on my car without the help of someone else's experience. I'm not saying DON'T ask us for help. But I AM saying don't be skirred to think for yourself.

    But if you are a car genius then please help me because last time i checked running your car without a thermostat UNTUNED was a dumb idea but hey i havent had the same motor you have in your car for a couple of WEEKS for oh i dont know 7 years so i dont know much about it

    TB will do nothing for you right now. Get an Ebay intake (if you don't already have one) + AEBS intake manifold. Since you already have a DC header and 2.25" exhaust then that's about all the power you'll make with bolt-ons.

    Actually, get a lightened flywheel and while the tranny is out go ahead and upgrade the clutch. It will make a big difference.

    And that was the completely "mod" list. IDK what u guys consider mods compared to waht i consider mods. I dont really like to do that and he didnt really give me any information about his motor. As u guys know, mine used to be all stock and it was going to stay that way.

    A header was all it came with, IDK what the standard ECU is for an LS motor. Cuz I kno u can chip them or even exchange ECU's (if I'm correct)
