Default Can anyone please help install axles and a clutch?

    Hey everyone.

I've got a slight delema. I no longer have acess to tools of almost any kind. I need to replace my axles and my clutch and flywheel. The Axles I know how to do, its simple enough. I have never replaced a clutch.
I went to Firestone by my house and they quoted me almost $1500 for remanned axles, clutch kit, flywheel and labor. Thats retarded. A) I'm not paying that much B) I don't have that kind of money. I can get the parts no problem. I can do the axles, allthough I'm a lil rusty, it's been a while since I've had to change em.

Is there anyone on here that has the necesary tools and knowledge doing a clutch that could help me out? There'd be beer and food involved. I have no problem bribing .

Please leme know, guys. I'm afraid I've already damaged my synchros by riding on this clutch, I don't want the whole ****ing tranny to go to sh*t.

    Thanks in advance.

You can't damage synchros riding a clutch. You'll wear out the clutch disc, throw out bearing, pressure plate, and burn the flywheel surface. Synchros make sure that each gear is spinning at the same speed as you shift, whether it be up shifts or down shifts.

Shifting without the clutch is hard on synchros because you aren't disengaging the engine's power from the driveline, thus causing each synchro to work harder.

Yeah, i was taught that because of teh extra strain on the synchros, theyd start to foul out after a period of time. If not then damn, i'm glad to be wrong, I thought I was looking at a new tranny or a rebuild for this one in the near future

Well, asap. My next day off is thursday, but I doubt I'll have the parts then. Beyond that its just as long as I'm not at work or in school I'm game. I think I'll have next tuesday and thursay off (still have school though), other than that its evenings, really. I get off work anywhere between 6 and 8.

I will have the axles coming soon, theyll be shipped tomorrow, but they arent far away, should only take a few days to get them here, and The clutch kit I'll buy soon as I figure out when I can get this done.

Also, have any of you used the CarQuest clutch kit before? Is it any good? Should I go elsewhere? I'm looking for something stock for now. I don't want to upgrade much till I do a B swap.

What's going down and when? I might can do something. No promises...

Got those springs tools, btw. They're in my car until I get a chance to leave them at my house.

    awesome, thanks Ben.

I'm not sure when, but I'll be changing my clutch and front axles. I'm picking up the axles tomorrow, the clutch I'd prolly have to order. The clutch situation is in the air right now. I believe I'm gettign Exedy stage 1, if the price is right (going through a new connection of mine)

I have acess to no tools at the moment is the problem, so this has to get done somehow...just not sure how/when yet.
