    yes i live in winder
    example: when your car is already cranked and running, you turn the key to crank and you'll hear a grinding noise ( starter and fly wheel beating on each other )

    starter is only suppose to turn the flywheel for a quick 1-3 sec (hear one to two turn over) untill the car fire up.
    if its not getting fire and the starter is on a hot wire (keeps cranking) it could have mess up tips of the flywheel's teeth. starter gives a very hard turn to get the flywheel rotating, this can able a slip.
    but like i said, its just a opinion, not 100% untill its check
