    Default Speed World Challenge

After seeing this weekends race at Petit, I am very disappointed in the series. It has died so much since what it use to be, plus it has pushed any smaller teams out of the picture.

Where do you all see it going? Koni Challenge gets my vote for best touring car style series in the US right now. I plan on running some in that next season.

I mean there was what like twelve cars total at RA in TC?

The speed channel not broadcasting each race until they feel is convenient probably has something to do with it.

Yeah that's true, why do they even sponsor the series? Shouldn't they cover it more in depth? lol

What is there to cover? You already said it, there are 12 cars and only 4 are competitive.

It was a badass series from like 2002-2006. What a shame.

There are way more cars. The problem is Turner / RealTime and a few other teams are the only ones that run all of the races. Most teams runs the "central" races (mid-ohio - etc) b/c you can run enough events to still get points. West coast teams are not gonna make the hop to Petit... and vice versa. It's no longer cost efficient.

Turner? Turner hasnt been in World Challenge for a few years now. except last year when they ran Lucho De Castro's old car at Lime Rock to basically advertise it. It was bittersweet to see that car race.

Its not just the traveling costs. World Challenge touring has advanced beyond the means of privateer teams. These cars are costing 150k - 200K to re-create. The reason Grand am is so popular is because you get a lot more racing for the price.
The Rules in World Challenge are changing to make the cars cheaper to build and run. that means stock suspension points, no sequentials and a lot more restrictions on engines. So lets hope there will be more cars in the future. I would really hate to see WCTC die off. One of my favorites of all times.

BTW, Congrats to Seth Thomas on the win at Petit. A local guy.

Well I meant in the past as it has been slowly dying.

Hopefully the new rules change the size of the fields, I miss the days when it was like BTCC style and big car starts.

I was disappointed here. From what I remember
    3 3 series
    2. 1st gen TSXs
    1 or 2 2nd getn TSXZs
    1 IS 300
2 Civics one old hatch, one new coupe
    4 Mazda 6s

That is not very diverse and the only cars making real runs were the BMW, Acura and couple Mazdas....

The EK hatch and Integra are in a new class I think they made to make the fields larger for cheaper cars, not sure though.

Nobody can keep up with the main running people because they don't have millions to spend on building a touring car lol.

Lexus has their slow ass GT car for sale for 500k...I can buy a P2 Acura for that.
