Default You have been offered a full ride to go pro....

This morning you received a phone call from SoBE Energy (i happen to be drinking one now)... they want to buy you a new race car and put you behind the wheel. You now must choose your destiny...

Pick one of the choices listed... then post what kind of car you would drive. If you know what series, class, or circuit.... you can include that as well...

    You can only pick ONE!

I'd like to race professional Time Attack. As far as a car..... I wouldn't be all that upset if they just gave me the funds to make my STi competitive. Other than that like a race prepped EVO or something. Cool thread!

I think in this case i'd have to say prototype racing/ALMS.

But i'd be hard pressed between that and pro drifting...but not the crap here in the states that we call Formula D, i'm talking the stuff that's going on overseas.

Auto-X is a pro sport. There are National level drivers who have sponsorships. It's just not well publicized; read up on Jason Saini's career

Road racing - Touring cars or V8 Supercars

Road racing.. Rolex series probably in a DP or rx8.

Tough decision though. Grand Am Koni challenge sounds good. But im partial to it since I did some crewing for a team.

Speed world challenge touring cars would be my 3rd choice.

Maybe breaking even, but being paid to autocross and living off of that in unheard of, hell I had enough sponsorship to earn a tad and not have to pay for an autocross season a few years ago lol. I didn't even have a fast car.

You're exactly right, but one doesn't have to make a living at it to be a pro. One only has to get paid. Very, very few of the people in motorsports actually make money at it.

You know the old adage, "How do you make a small fortune in racing? Start with a large fortune."

I agree with Simon, above. That is really cool.

There's a History channel "Modern Marvels", iirc, that I've only seen parts of about monster trucks. There's a lot of really cool design work that has gone into the construction and development of monster trucks since the days of the original Bigfoot.

I would have to say leMans, and either in the f430 or the c6R

....... But rally is right behind it, and that would be in the new STi

Haha, a man after my own heart. However, if you're a good F1 driver you make a mint (wasn't michael schumaker the top grossing "athlete" of all time a year or two ago?)

If money was no issue though, Road Racing in the Le Mans series. I'd drive any car, any class, but the Aston Martins were always rather appealing to me.

PS, who the hell picked street racing?

Michael Schumacher Sorry, hurt me reading that....

Was the first athlete to reach 1 Billion dollar over his career. In 2000, he made over 100 million dollars. Back then, him and Tiger Woods would swap the position of the world's highest paid athlete. Currently, F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen is the world's highest paid driver.

    Here's SI's international list.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mor.../index.20.html

F1's Fernando Alonzo, Lewis Hamilton, and Jenson Button (before Brawn GP pay cut) are also on the list.

MotoGP GOD Valentino Rossi also appears at #5.
