I drive an 03 Evo and an 08 ZX6R. I also drive an 05 Legacy GT, but it won't be down until later. The Army brings me, although I'll be in Columbus at the end of the month. I need to finish putting my car back together and to tune it.

The question really should be what haven't I done to it yet. I have a pretty extensive laundry list of work done.

if you want a big turnout, dont hold them at night... stick to the original format of the one in November.

regardless, I'll do my best to be out there.

hmm, i know what you're talking about, they're run by a small belt and keep the engine from vibrating a lot at idle, and i know that they're not necessary according to some H series gurus. As far as ever tinkered with one - that's a negative bro, sorry. Although Jimmy does, and he just moved in one apartment down. I'll ask him.

yeah, well i havent confirmed it yet, i was running my car the other day through 3rd pretty hard. and everything felt strong. but after wards i noticed the car felt a little more rough, especially at idle. but if anything the car feels faster lol. so im assuming i popped the balancer belt or something. but until i take of the timing cover i wont know for sure but thats my guess.

if you broke the balance shaft belt it probably would have been caught up in your timing belt and your engine would have had an epic failure?

hmm, i doubt it broke man.

But if that belt messed up then my tensioner would be at fault, right?

Actually, you can break the belt and not necessarily jump timing. The only time you would is if the belt get's caught up in the timing belt and causes it to jump. about 90% of the time (or more), that will happen. Sometimes, the belt gets pushed off to the side or simply shreds enough teeth that it falls out of phase. Even in those scenarios though, not addressing the issue is playing with fire as the remains could eventually cause you to jump timing and destroy your engine.

yeah trust me i know, but until this weekend i am just going to have to drive it and hope it doesnt fail lol, but im positive it does seem faster, i punched it in 2nd gear and about broke my neck lol. but i may do what ive been wanting to do for a while and buy a new motor from hmotors or tiger, and swap it out, and build up the one im using now for h22a turbo (cough) lol

So, pretty much you're agreeing with me?

The belt on his engine was replaced by the previous owner, so it can't be more than a year old. Unless Eli has driven more than 60k miles, I bet it is still intact and operational.

A 10whp gain (NA) wouldn't be very noticeable on the move Eli, perhaps you're just pushing your car more than usual and turning up the sensitivity on your butt dyno. swing it by my house Saturday. And we'll take a look at it if you like.

if your auto tensioner is "failing" i doubt you would know it until it's too late...

If you cant find time to inspect it to make sure, then don't have an anxiety attack over it man, just drive your car until you have time to take a look.

Not entirely, no. We do agree on what usually happens with a a broken balance belt. But, at least from what we have both typed on the issue, we are not in full agreement that his balance belt isn't broken, damaged, or suffered premature failure.

You'll have to forgive me as I am an outsider looking in, but how sure are you that the previous owner did replace both belts?

BTW, we have the same name.

I'll be living off post, in Alabama. Got set up with a house already. Right now, I'm busy as hell trying to get my car pieced back together. My issues right now is piddley shit here and there.
I'm at this point HOPING to be able to get the car on the dyno prior to my departure. However, I might not and have to do it in Atlanta. Does anyone by chance know a shop there with a load bearing awd dyno? Also, are there any Autronics tuners in the area who could provide me with support if I need some?

Just looked at their site, and they're using a Dynojet, which is an Inertia Dyno. Not really interested in that type of dyno. Would prefer either a Dynodynamics or Mustang if there's one around.
