Default Australian V8 Supercars- Austin 400 @ Circuit of the Americas.

Since SPEED started showing the V8SC series over a decade ago, it was always a dream of mine to see these cars in action. Up until the announcement of this year's event, traveling to Australia was more of less a "bucket list" item...something I'd hopefully get to one day. Luckily, someone...well, a group of someones...decided to put together a world-class track in order to attract the likes of F1 and other premium motorsport events. Thus, the Circuit of the Americas circuit was born and built in Austin, Texas. Not long after the announcement of the first U.S. Grand Prix in a number of years, it was announced that plans were in the works to include an appearance from the awesome beasts that have been ruling the tracks down under. Fast forward to the weekend of May18th and the teams are all there and have been setting up the cars and practicing for Saturday's and Sunday's races. Unlike most other U.S-born races, they do 2 30-minute races each day with qualifying before each events (there are other support races as well). Despite the rather warm temperatures, higher-than-normal humidity and an unusual weather condition blowing up smoke from a fire in Mexico causing very hazy viewing conditions, it was a sight to see and hear. On with the pics!

Please don't mind the quality- I'm just using an older Canon XS with the kit lens. Many of them didn't come out very well at all and I salvaged what I could

    Awesome pictures!
I wish Ford would have sold the FPV Falcons in the U.S.A. I'd get rid of my GT500 in a heartbeat. I'd love to get my hands on that 4.0L Turbo straight 6. With the word that Ford will be pulling out of Australia in 2016 who knows whats going to happen.

How far down? Flickr links usually never have problems, I can see them all...sooo...any help identifying which ones are bad.

Edit- Just went back and checked all permissions (set to public) and re-copied and posted all the links. Let me know if any are not working

Bautiful pictures! That had to be an amazing event to attend! so jelly. Is this the first time it has come to the states? I was fortunate and able to watch most of it, I missed the start. I love the V8 supercar series! I hope it catches on over here in the states and maybe a Road Atlanta visit.

What's your thoughts on 2013 rules and the spec chassis?

Also, Ford's out of Australia in 2016 and Falcon will die with it. What should be the Ford car in the series? Allow 2 doors like the Mustang or try something else?
