Default I'm back, but no import this time......Vcontent

Around late 2009 I parted out my white hatch and got out of the car "scene".... I've wanted one of these since they first came out and after getting the itch again, I decided it was time to bite the bullet.....

Well done. I think you have fully matured in car taste. That car looks good and it moves quickly in stock form. First impressions?

Other than breaking it on the second day lol...I love it!!

    Day2 of ownership

First of many trips on a flatbed I'm sure

2nd time down the driveway was on the flatbed..

    Tearing it apart

Final verdict......broken passenger side cv stub at the wheel hub.

So I bought these used...HE Pro axles (rated for 1000hp)

A little rusty, so some sanding and paint..

First impression are really good. Despite weighing in at close to 4000 lbs it handles extremely well (passed a few sportbikes in the mtns..In a CADDY!). It's got a fair amount of power. Just CAI and catback for now, hopefully longtubes, a cam and tune soon. The interior is nice and I can fit myself plus 4 ladies (or child seats whatever). It's the perfect blend IMO.

Still getting it figured out.. Only had it up there once so far and I couldn't figure out how to get the stability control all the way off. It wouldn't let me get slapsideways lol. Figured it out now though and it'll hang the ass out for sure:boobies:

awesome car, luxury + v8 quickness = badass

Im surprised the axle snapped like that, I wouldve figured the cv joint wouldve broken before it sheared like that. Torque ftw.

The first gen Vs have a bad problem with wheel hop and are known for their weak differentials and axles. The majority of axles break on the differential side, which is much more of a PITA to fix(remove diff). The '06 & '07 have an upgraded diff and axles, but I broke that only with a WOT 1-2 shift..I suspect the previous owner didn't tighten the axle nut good enough....Oh well

    Awesome!

Texas Speed Magic Stick 3 cam. Great power, sounds sick, and you can pick them up pretty cheap (mine was $225 shipped and never used).

Hey at least you didn't split the pumpkin in half. I've seen far worse failures out of these V's. Buddy of mine has a very nicely modded on and is getting ready to throw a H/C/I package on it in the next month or so.

The '04-'05 had the LS6 & the '06-'07 had the LS2, both rated at 400hp(crank)

No kidding, it could have been far worse. Even the axle shearing on the hub side was a blessing lol. I'm already planning the 8.8 diff swap when the stock Getrag goes boom...

Hell yeah bro, these cars actually handle very well in stock form even for being a 4000lb car.

Start saving now, those Getrags suck balls lol! I've rebuilt a million and replace 2million, between the CTS-V and the Pontiac solstice/ Saturn sky. These diffs are tiny and defiantly not strong enough to handle the Trq. Check the differential bushing on the passenger side and make sure it's not cracked or broken, they are a big part of the internal problems we see in the dealerships. If u need some help hit me up, I work on these everyday and have all the special tools if needed.

Yup, going to check that bushing next time I'm under it.. Creative Steel makes brackets to bolt in a Ford 8.8 IRS unit and I doubt I'll ever make enough power to break one of those. After buying all the pieces it's only a little more than another POS Getrag.

you will not be disappointed I promise...
My dad went long tubes, mild cam (Degreed in) corsa exhaust, intake, and tune and he made 495 to the back tires in his Pontiac G8 and it was tuned conservatively since he lives in NY(emission & gas consumption). He Trailered the car down here and back so I could do all the work, I also removed the intake and ported it a little to remove the casting seems. He just bought the new LZ1 Camaro and wants to do a long tubes, exhaust, and intake, which makes no sense to me since the damn thing makes 580 crank HP...

Depending on how far you plan on going a mild cam will produce good power if your not going to do heads also. Long tubes are expensive as $hit for V's. And PM me if you don't have a tuner I can make a suggestion for ya.

So by reading some posts, these cars were meant to fail?

Lol. Driven by "normal" Cadillac owners they should manage to stay intact. If you beat on them, yes, the diff or axles will fail lol

They are pretty affordable right now if you buy from an individual. I've seen a couple nice ones under $20K.
