Default What get 45+ MPG and still turns heads??? VERY PIC INTENSIVE!!!! You have been warned

Well it has been a LONG time since I have shared anything on here.. I sold my Lexus IS300 Sportwagon.. (yes those are real BBS RS's and they were built by me with candy teal powder coated faces )

I sold this car because it wasnt me. It was a moment of weakness. I am a VW guy through and through.. I ended up buying a 2003 20th Anniversary GTI.. I sold it to a guy in Atlanta so look out for it in the streets.. Put tons of time into it but wanted/needed 4 doors

So here it is.. My newest project.. The 2006 VW TDI 5 speed... Platinum Gray.. Black leatherette lol.. It was bought on auction and looked a lot nicer in pictures than in person. I was disappointed. I have done ALL the maintenance to it necessary including full timing service first thing. I did a LOT of cleanup on the car and it still isnt perfect. I did coilovers on it, tinted the windows, all new brakes all around with cleanup, M3 style spoiler, and a lot more.

The wheels on the car are 19X8 BBS CH's but have been sold and I am have already paid for 18X8.5 and 18X9.5 CCW Classics.. I also bought 215/40 and 225/40 tires. Just waiting on them all to get here. But here are a ton of pics of work done so far.. I will get the car cleaned up real good and get pics of it on the CCW's when they get here.. Enjoy.. Feedback is welcome.. Oh and yes it is slow!!! lol

The engine bay was a good indication to how dirty the car was when I got it..

Ao we decided to remover what we could to give a thorough cleaning

Cam lobes showed very minimal to no wear which is good for me as that is a common problem with these and I was preparing myself for needing to replace the cam and supporting parts..

A little rough under the timing covers but not too bad..

    Replacement parts are pretty

Still dont know why they dont have metal impellers on the MKV waterpumps

Cleaned up the motor mount bracket on the wire wheel before putting it back in

Got it mostly put back together and closed off everything and then pressure washed out the bay really well

Replaced the fuel filter, cabin filter and air filter.. Look how nasty this fuel filter is..

This is what came out of my engine bay after the wash.. I bet I lost a pound or two in dirt and gravel lol

Told you I had a brake sensor light on.. fund the culprit.. The previous owner relaced the pads up front with non OE pads and cut the sensor off.. also since they did not replace the shot rotors, the new pads were junk to me

The culprit of the brake light

    Rusty old brakes

My solution.. New Zimmerman OE brake discs and new pads for all four corners

Problem fixed by using a MKIV brake indicator harness and heat shrinked with friction tape around that..

Did not stop there.. Needed to clean it up a bit.. So cleaned everything off with the wire
wheels down to the metal and got high temp paint..

So calipers, carriers, and dust shields painted and put back on with the new rotors and pads for a clean look.. Happy with the outcome

Before with rock chips around fender area...

    After application without smearing...

Now just waiting on the CCW's to get here.. My side skirts are getting painted.. Have a Votex rear valence already painted, and am looking into what I wanna do for the front bumper. At least a respray is in the future.. I am also rolling cheaper coilovers because I will be switching to air ride in the near future.
