    Default First Gen Hondas

Anyone know of any really nice 1st Gen Hondas?

Specifically Crx's, Preludes, and Accords. If you happen to have pics please post. I can't seem to find swapped old school Hondas.

Would have posted in Car Pics but I wanna see some swaps and figure out who/how they did them.

I meant first generation CRXs. You never see them around unless someone is just driving it as a stock daily.

That Radio was only in the 79 I think. People complained because they couldn't figure out how to use it. But I love the SN Prelude.

Another quirk it had was the reverse opening hood.

So cool but I can't find any pics of them modded at all.

And you more than likely won't. These cars didn't have the kind of following that other Japanese cars did because of them being FWD. They had an oddball lug pattern (which makes for an expensive chore to find wheels for (took me 2 years) and Hondas were not that powerful under the hood. And with the OS Hondas, most people (about 98%) are restoring them to stock. Preludes are way last on the list of "sought after" Hondas. Later, QD.

I guess I shouldn't have called it a quirk. But it is peculiar for today's hood hinge placement standards. Lol. I can't help but think its cool and Im obviously biased towards the Lude even though the other Hondas were the same way.

So you had one? How'd you like it?
I just want to see one lowered is all. I think it would be a fun car.

I'm trying to say the 'first generation of the crx.'

That body style crx was my first car. It was a hunk of crap and hardly ever moved.

That's just how they were then. My Civic is that way.

^^^^ That's pretty cool. I would love to see it. I admire your wisdom and experience. Haha.

I'm guessing you heated the springs? Have you ever done a write up of that?

I've never done it, myself. QD said he does it in another post about a camaro. The reason I asked if he heated the springs was bc there aren't aftermarket parts for that year lude. You gotta work with what you have, man.

So no. My car has Teins.

I realize I should have named this post something else. Oh well.

    But that's a 1300 Coupe right? It's a pretty car.

Does anyone know exactly why Honda went FWD crazy on everything? If I'm not mistaken the only FR layouts were the S Series and the NSX. Was it to save money for what?

    Yessir it is.

I would reckon that Honda moved to FF because that's what makes sense for economy cars: more interior space (relative to size), more predictable handling, and better efficiency.

Any car that was primarily designed as a sports car has been RWD (S-series, NSX, and Beat).

Whoa.. I didn't even know the Beat exists. Pretty cool.

And I didn't mean to say that the NSX is front engined ^^^. I guess that all makes sense, interior room and etc... thanks. I wasn't really thinking about convenient stuff like that.

Beat's are really cool. There used to be a guy at GA Tech that had one, made a few appearances at Varsity meets a couple years ago.

Hmmm... I copied the wrong quote... I use my phone about 70% of the time I post stuff and that's a result, lol. Will fix.

But I am too. I can't pinpoint what it is but old school cars hold more class and history. They're older and have seen more... it's like you can feel it when you sit behind the wheel.

The attitude of older cars is more calm (imports mainly) and meaningful if you ask me. Newer 90s up cars seem to be in their raging teens yelling for attention (depending on how it's done of course. I'm generalizing about the overall feel of a car, not individual examples.) But it all depends of perspective.

I love this. I have a very special place in my heart for this car. My father got one for me when I was 13 as a fixer upper project. It was $300 and we had it for a little over a year working on it here and there until we ran into some financial issues. He had to sell it.

I'm gonna have to get one at some point. I'll see if I can't find an old pic of it, scan it, and throw it on here.

And ehhh.... this is hideous but it exists.

    But here's a cool 1g CRX
