only one picture of a whole carei want to see more of the cars
what kind of wheels are on the miatas?
Getting a little better just a little so don't get the big head :P
looks like a riverside meet.
Looks like no one was there.
nice pics but dirty cars lol.
im trying to figure out why youre pictures are so unsatisfying. i thought it was because we never get to see the whole car, but that isnt it. i think its that you pick one spot of focus on the car and the rest of the car is really fuzzy. im no photographer, but theres gotta be a way to fix that, if you want to of course.
CD5 Accord
Both pics with the white miata areand so is the last pic, but the rest are bleh. You choose really odd objects to shoot that don't accentuate the car at all, like the supra's missing fender (why not the side w/ a fender) or the exhaustless bad paint on the 300zx. Then as somebody else said the rest of the picture gets reeeeaaaally blurry if you're not focused on it for some reason
BUILT NOT BOUGHT .........
lmao. i walk around alot. i just take pics of stuff that i havent shot before. i shot the supra on both sides just to show what happened.. or actually just for the hell of it. haha. and the 300zx.. i was focusing on the retardedly big domo doll drift charm. hahaha.. i was shooting another car and then i saw the z pull in and behind it domo was draggin. hahaa. i had to shoot it. and the reason why the pics are focused on a very small part is because of the lens. i was using my 50mm f/1.8. i was shooting with it wide open. lots of light gets in and at the same time the depth of field is really shallow. i wanted that effect.. the blue miata pic is pretty horrible.. the lens dosent autofocuz with the d40 body so it was hard to manual focus on an object that was relatively far away. i guess thats why most pics are close. cuz then its easier to focus. haha. i was really just experimenting with the lens at night.. and it failed the test. haha. im gonna have to keep the 18-55 on this thursday. lol. sorry for the shitty pics guys.

and for the record, i dig how you keep it real and shoot both the pretty parts as well as the dirty, raw parts of cars.

Maybe it's because you're shooting with a Nikon? Hahah, just kidding.
But I've noticed with Nikons that if you don't use a Nikor lens, it just doesn't look right. Was this lens a Nikor?
And instead of sacrificing your depth of field because of low light, try bumping up your ISO instead of your aperture. Nikon is famous for quality at really high ISOs, and it's not like you're putting any of your pictures on billboards, so you don't need a really high quality image, just one that'll look good at screen resolution. This way you can shoot at f/8 @ 1/125th with 1600 ISO maybe instead of f/1.8 @ 1/60th with 100 ISO? (Just guessing at what those numbers are XD)
The Miata in the 3rd picture would look great with a paintjob.
haha. nahh. errbody know nikon is teh best!!!11!!1!! lmao..
but yeah it is a nikkor 50mm.
i wanted teh bokeh so i had to shoot wide open. lol
my numbers were sumthin like f/1.8 i cant remember shutter speed but it was pretty long.. i use a tripod and 200 ISO..
i rarely shoot at something higher then 200. id rather sacrifice shutter speed to get all the light then bump up the ISO. lol.. im kinda OCD about that.
the downfall of the 50mm in that situation was the user. me. lol.. i just couldnt focus.. it was pretty annoying. another thing is that in the pic with the blue miata there were flares like hard core. its as if light reflected between my uv filter and the actual lens. idk..

cool pics, you have potential. needs more focus on some shots.
If you wanted the shallow depth of field like that, I would've used a large aperture, like f/4, but f/1.8 is a little too open for what you're shooting.
You used a tripod? It seems like you still have camera shake, which is odd. Try setting a 2 second timer, that way you're not creating camera shake when you press the shutter.
But for real, you can push Nikons way higher on ISO than just 200. Just sayin...
