Default Vented my block a few weeks back (E46 M3 destruction inside)

Fresh motor with under 2K (IIRC) grenades at Tally during an open track day. As a result, 12 quarts of oil caught fire as it left the motor. Lost brakes, got out safely. It appears that the last 2 cyliners have gone through the block. Fire travelled back into the motor, so it will have to be pulled to know 100% (pics will follow as this happens). FOund parts of internals on drivers side of engine bay while cleaning it up for the autopsy. Hole is on passenger side behind headers. More pics will follow

Good luck with the build man! I might have some questions for you in the future. Looking at getting an E46 Vert in white.

Yeah I've used them, they're good for the money but there are a lot better tires out there.

Is this the car you were talking about doing enduros with?

I have yet to have any issues with them. Yeah, not quite as grippy as Toyo's, but I can overcome that.

I hate that you had to experience this on such a fresh engine. Is the cause of this catastrophe known?

On a side note... If the new long block comes with another oil filter housing please contact me as my turbo engine is in desperate need of an oil cooler.

    Its slow... I promise

It sure does...... in the name of "passing it on", I'll give you the one off this motor and the oil cooler if you want to have it flushed out...........

I guess, they just don't hold grip very long on hot days.

Oh, I thought you meant like real enduro enduros like road racing.

I have a few sets of the Falkens in the garage, they all did great at Tally and it was in the 90's. No, I race Enduros on bikes. I used to in cars, havent had time to lately.

Is the build going on at your house?

its hard to pinpoint 100% just yet, last 2 cylinders are completely destroyed. I am leaning towards rod bearing then threw rods, or main bearing/crank failure then crankwalk.

Ran ITS for 3-4 years in a 92 SE-R, Ran ITS for 2 years in a 92 GTI 16V, 3 years in ITA in a 89 GTI 16V, Ran a 500HP AWD Archer Talon in a few different classes for a few summers, just for kicks, never made more than 3 or 4 races. Had a few EG swapped cars for NASA too. I still have the 93 CX with a B18, but I took down some fencing/stumps at Waterford Hills in it and messed up a rocker and LCA. Oh, had a few 13B 1G RX7's too, looked at another yesterday for kicks.

The only truly weak link on an S54 is the rod bearings. They just go on some of them and I suspect yours went hard. Get a set of aftermarket forged bearings and your set for enduro's, but i'm sure you've already done this.

I picked up Coated Rod and Mains. I also grabbed some ARP head/main/Rod bolts. Stronger Rods should be here tomorrow. I am going to poach the cams and TB's from the old motor. Going with a baffled pan. I have an OE pump being modded up in CHarlotte for more flow. (guy who does Toyota's NASCAR water and oil pumps). I got a much larger oil cooler and 2 Derale fans for it. I hope this works, if not, it will be an expensive learning experience.
