Needs to be lowered on thrown on some Volks
BUILT NOT BOUGHT .........
I'm surprised i got some replys.
1360 hp it has.
haha those things are amazing, ridin in one is fun
DAMN!! Pretty awesome lol
I paid 5 euros for a coke at that airport.
how bout the torque???

The first prototype is equipped with two Deutz (KHD) V6-cylinder Diesel engines type BF6M1015 C. The total power of 2x 400 HP = 800 HP is distributed by hydraulic oil to the hydraulic motors, each in one of the 6 driven wheels (6x6).
In the biggest version the AST-1 X can be equipped with two Deutz (KHD) V8-cylinder Diesel engines type BF8M1015 CP, each rated at 600 HP. With this 1.200 HP hydrostatic drive system the tractor is able to reach the max. speed of 20 mph / 32 kph also with an aircraft weight of 600.000 lbs / 300.000 kg!
will it ever be possible for a gasoline engine to do what diesels do so well?
That thing is overpowered to hell!
Your average new truck that uses a Detroit Diesel Series 60 12.6L I6 engine makes:
380HP at 1800 and 1350TQ at 1200.
You just need one of the bigger 14L 500HP engines for traction and maybe a 4 banger to run the hydraulics.
The whole thing is powered by hydraulics, even the 6 wheels. One engine would be impractical due to space and packaging constraints. I'm not a master on aircraft moving vehicles like you want to be but my guess is since they've been doing this a very long time, they know what is necessary to do the job. If a simpler way could be done I'm sure they would have done it by now.

lol no I don't want to be an expert - they dont make enough money and the unions screw em over.
There are too many things to run with 1 engine alone - but you misread my post - I'm all for 2 engines - but a 600hp diesel probably weighs in at 2500lb right I'm saying they're too big. Then again maybe the weight probably increases the power they can put to the ground and gives em bragging rights?! It doesn't take much HP to get this sort of work done since the work is happening so slowly (HP being work done over time).
Of course they "know what they're doing" - Microsoft has been improving on Windows for over 20 years so it should be perfect right?
fuck that thing, i was looking at the plane
Work in the shop at ATL that these get worked on in have there own little click of guys that work on them but we dont have one of those big boys yet. But damn you wanna talk about a wiring nightmare Damn
Not exactly.
The Antonov AN225 is the Ukrainian plane built in the mid 80's to transport the Russian Buran space Shuttle. After the Buran's failure and the Soviet Union's fall, the program's money was. The AN225 sat for 8 years before being re-engined and turned from a military plane into a FAA/EASA regulated cargo plane. It is now the only airborne unit that can carry loads of 250 tons. The AN225's base plane, the AN124, is the second largest in the world and the much older AN22 is the largest propeller plane.
The AN225 finally got painted in 2009. Notice how the set of front wheels recline. There are also cranes inside the cargo bay. The U.S. military is said to be a user of the AN225 since the Galaxy is nowhere near its potential.
It looks like you could play football in that thing...
The AN225, probably the other one too.

Thats nuts, only things like that make me interested in planes.
It is Ukrainian. Not Russian.
It was built to A. Carry the Buran space shuttle, and B. Carry loads too large for the AN124.
It hasn't carried the space shuttle since the early 90's since it the space program was canceled when the Soviet Union fell. It was transformed from a military plane to a commercial cargo plane in the early 2000s. Antonov Airlines runs it now from Kiev.
Its complicated as Oleg Antonov was very old and his final work was the AN124. He died before the AN225 was complete although he was alive when the design process began.
Petro Balabuyev is credited with the AN225 and he was also Ukrainian.
This documentary goes over all the people involved.
