i havent thought too much into it besides the polyurethane mounts. im hoping it will be enough to keep it still. if anything hits it will probably be the rear header on the power steering rack.
EDIT: oops, this is DeeAOne.

yes the mounts are filled and done. i did them awhile ago. the stuff i used appears to be harder than polyurethane, lol.
so today i didnt do anything but upgrade my alternator. i planned on using the 4 cylinder 60 amp alt since it mounts up the same. the only thing i would have had to do was change the pulley to a groove belt one. but i decided to just get a new one instead. 90 amps as well. now i just have to find a bolt long enough to mount it up.

thanks alot.![]()
those aem pulleys i gave you fit anything?
i tried the power steering pump..its kinda loose so idk if i want to run it or not. you will see when i show it to you.
so, i was doing some brainstorming yesterday about my axle issue. here is the problem for those who dont know.
my car's wheel hubs have a 26 spline count. the trans is a g series trans which all have a 28 spline count. so obviously the mx-3 axles wont fit in my wheel hubs. by the way, the mx-3 gs is a 1.8l v6. they are the shortest v6 axles to use that will still work. the probe, mx-6, and 626 are way too long.
the newer proteges have this 28 spline count that i need. so my plan was to swap hubs, struts, lower control arms, everything over to my car from a 90-94 pro. this might take a little modification but the two generations arent hugely different.
after a little bit more researching, i was told that even with the hub swap, the axles will still be TOO LONG. the wheelbase of my car is a little shorter apparently. yet another headache.
so now, im going to attempt a custom made shorter mx-3 axle. i have a friend with access to a very strong gas welder. im going to see if he can cut and weld them back together. i have taken balance of the axle in to account and will trying to test that as well. its worth a shot right?
stay tuned!![]()
whats the difference in length? Not sure if this would work, but if you take both sets of axles to a shop that specializes in axles, you could have them mate the two...
lol now this is where my mechanical grammar gets funky as i don't know what the 2 parts of the axle are called, but basically take the part that fits into the hub from the protege, and mate it to the part that goes into the tranny from the mx3
We've done it before when putting in the lsd tranny from the lantis. just reversed we used the mx3s to fit the hub.

that was my first idea. i was going to get the 323 hub and put it on the mx3 axle. only thing is the mx3 axle is much bigger. the bearing assembly wouldnt fit into the 4 cylinder cv joint.
just have mike do some welding on the axles.![]()
swap seems to be coming along nicely! good job louis

so, i gave this DSS place a call and they said i have two options:
1. they can make an mx-3 axle with a bigger 323 hub on the outer end to fit my wheel. price: $600. shipped to my house in 8-10 weeks.
2. they can make a custom axle specially for my application. price: $800. shipped to my house probably within 2 weeks. this will probably be the stronger of the two.
what do you guys think?
800 is a good price for axles, I'm guessing these are also going to be able to with stand higher number of hp/tq would guess around the 600 range

yeah. he asked how much power i was making, i told him my motor is stock besides the basic i/h/e. he said i could try the first ones. hes not guaranteeing they wont break but they have a one year warranty. so idk. the problem is still, they might need to be shortened a little, and i forgot to mention that.
Go with the custom ones, will handle more power and seems like a safer bet if the shop is telling you they might still break. And being that people snap stock axles with Ze's its a better bet just all together. Plus I mean 800 over 600, its just 200 for a better product.

yeah true. thats like 2 paychecks for me too. but who said a swap would be cheap right? lol
yea i say stick with option 2 and just give them a measurement for lenght.... but now u know how i feel about expensive shit
damn louis car is coming along nicely! cant wait to see this thing on the road!
yesterday i went to the pull a part in conley and grabbed the whole front suspension assembly off a 94 323. BG chassis.
got some good news and bad news.
good news: the whole assembly seems to be a direct bolt on, amazingly. but the thing that im scared about since it seems to have went in so easy, does every bg have the spline count i need? i got the stuff from a 94 hatch. even the tie rod ends bolt up, and look like they will be straight with just an alignment.
all the did for the struts was simply slap the bf top hat on the bg strut.
bad news: the axle nuts are frozen solid in the hubs. im going to have to take them to a shop to get them out. hopefully wont be too much pain in the ass. but since they are in there, i went ahead and tested the length of axle. and the passenger side length is perfect. this all seems too good to be true. lol.
the driver side has not been touched yet since i need to get the nut off tomorrow, so i didnt bother putting it on.
whoever said the thing about bg hubs with bf struts was right, when one hole lines up, the other is slightly off.
also worked on getting my gauges set up. the finished product:
gotta have old school gauges with a BF.

yea you will be golden with the BG hubs. BUT! there is 1 more small issue that happens sometimes with the swap in the BG. And using the gs axles with the bg front, Is that the axles will bind, because the MX3 GS is 30mm wider in the front. So you may need to get the mx3 GS lower Control Arms.
BUT! when i used the GS axles in my bg hubs/front suspension, i didnt have this issue. And a lot of people actually dont have this problem, its kind of sometimes it dont work...lol. but the bf might be different.. so i guess you wont know until u get the gs axles in..

good work, cant wait till its finished.
man this is cool as shit your car was cool before so now it is really kick ass get it done man i want a ride asap

Thanks guys.
And joe, all bg chassis have the spline I need right? I'm about to head to a shop to get the nuts off as we speak.
That's all I needed to know.![]()
i finally got both axles out, so i went out tonight and got the passenger side done tonight. here is how it sits with the wheel turned straight. its not too bad. looks like ill be able to straighten it out with just an alignment. ill have a 4x100 lug pattern on the front for now.
this is a stock bg strut on ebay springs, no sleeves.
im probably going to have to put a spacer between the tie rod ball joint and the spindle. it will not get tight enough to keep the tie rod from moving before the actual spindle and wheel turns.
the hub swap on this side actually wasnt that hard. the bottom two holes that bolt the spindle to the control arm are slightly off between bf and bg. i just took a decent sized drill bit and widened it up.
next, driver side.![]()
